Default DDR Max Question

So I just got DDR Max (JP) for my PS2, I have flip top and swap magic and what not, and it works/plays fine, but it spins the entire time I am playing it much louder than other games, is this because this game is a CD? :Confused

It is probably because of the internal laser and the cd format try playing around with it for a bit. It worked for me. Or sometimes it could just be dust in the system try cleaning it out a bit.

The original one and if it helps, I am running a slim PS2 (fliptop) with Swap Magic...

(Anyone correct me if I'm wrong) I had a similar problem with my old U.S. PS2 before I bought a Japanese one. I've been told that the PS2's laser/motor uses two different frequences to play DVD-rom games and games on a blue-back CD. A higher frequency is used to play DVD-rom games because the discs are heavier. As your system ages, it may get accustomed to playing with the higher frequency or the lower one depending of which type of discs was used the most. In your case, the weird sounds may be caused by the motor spinning the blue disc(DDR MAX) faster than it should because it weighs lighter.

Though I haven't tried this myself, someone once said they put a strip of duct-tape on each side of their blue-discs games to make them heavier which made the games play more efficiently.

applying duct tape to your cd is a very bad idea.

anyway, the difference in speed is normal. cd based games spin faster.

Putting ANYTHING on your discs (tape or otherwise) is a bad idea, as it screws with the balance of the disc, esp. while it spins.

Don't worry too much about the CD thing, my PS2 always acted differently with CD-based games as opposed to DVD. As long as it runs fine, should be OK.

One last question, my PS2 sometimes will like always, but on RARE occasions not load up the swap disc, I just have to reinsert it, is this something to worry about, I am like 100% sure this is not a laster problem, but sometimes it will just go to the mem card screen and stuff, it just happened on the CD one, and I think it only happened on the DVD one because I inserted wrong... I am using 3.8 swap discs, but I think I must have just put the disc in wrong or something or maybe I do not use enough CDs lol

Not really. The swap disc might not be pressed/burned well or the disc could be scratched. It could be a number of issues, but as long as it still boots somewhat regularly, then don't worry about it.

If it boots like 25-50% of the time, then I'd start worrying.
