Default DDR New Ratings Discussion

I find it a bit surprising that everyone had been pleading to Konami for years to revamp the ratings system and now that they have, no one is talking about it. Hopefully this isn't a duplicate thread or anything.

Personally I think they got almost everything right. It's pretty surprising after the mess that was SuperNova 2. Thank god they fixed Uranus. I just have a few minor gripes:

The Legend of Max should really be a 16. Or, Both LOM and MAXX lowered to 15.

FAXX Expert and Challenge should both be 17.

HDV Challenge should be 17.

FELM Expert should be 16.

More debatable ones:

Sakura Expert should be 14.

Paranoia Hades Standard should be 14.

TMP Expert seems more like a 14.

Overall, I think it's a vast improvement over what they used to have. Good job Konami.

LOM and MaxX deserve the ratings they have now., MaxX's chart is technically more draining and complex.

As far as TMP, the rating is spot on. I still think Expert's more difficult to clear/get a better score than the Challenge chart, though.

I love how the 9-10ft. ratio is played out in the new system (13-15). If Cartoon Heroes and So Deep manage to be revived, they would surely be 14's.

Yes.

Zenius -I- vanisher.com -5th style- beta

Note that these ratings are subject to change, as they already changed a rating in between the two Japanese location tests.

WTF Dead end Groove radar special is only a 18. I dont even want to see a 20, that song is impossible to get higher then a A on.

Indeed, when I heard of the re-ratings I figured it would be a 20 or at least 19, it's much harder than any other song due to step placement; scoring, passing, comboing are all extremely difficult on DEAD END "GROOVE RADAR" Special.

I dont think anyone has got an A on that song on the arcade game. I can only manage a C, and I consider myself a pretty damn good DDR player.

Hopefully this means Konami will pump out a lot more 15+ songs, with a few 19's and 20's.

What we'll probably end up with is 90% expert charts at 10 or under. With one 19. And the rest are revivals.

I doubt it. Given that the majority of the location test's (Which tended to have the lower-tier songs at the SN2 Japanese location test) new-to-DDR songlist being 10s or above, I'd expect a healthy dose of at least 11s, 12s, and 13s.

I was under the impression that a song thats 67bpm faster with the same arrow spacing, various speed changes and over 100 more steps is harder.

There is more chaos in Unlimited than in Legend. Legend is not difficult if you can keep up, because other than after the freeze, it's ALL STREAM with no crazy air stuff (you've seen the jumps in Unlimited, I'm sure). The rating is perfectly justified.

MAXX is harder to FC than LOM, but LOM is harder to pass than MAXX. Even if LOM were harder to pass than MAXX, is the difference really enough to justify the extra footer? Is the gap anywhere close to Max 300 versus PSMO?

Shit, misread.

Yeah, MAXX is still harder in my oponion than TLOM. (to do well on that as, MAXX is still easier to pass)
