Maxx is most definetly harder than Lom. All you need to do to verify that is look at DDRecall and compare the number of people who have AAA'd each song: Lom: 51 Maxx: 18.

Also, considering that both PRO and DEGRS are only 18's, it really scares me to think what's going to earn a 19 rating, much less a 20.

Remember all those threads long ago about arguing about how songs were misrated *coughCartoonHeroes&Sakuracough* & such?

I can't help to think that we'll see more...

Cartoon Heroes seemed it should of been a 10-footer because I still can't do that song on a controller or pad which I can AA FELM now.

I loved Sakura but it should be a 9-footer since it isn't that hard once you get the BPM changes down.

Has anyone noticed that some songs have parts taht you can't do on your hands yet you can on your feet? (DDR Freak - Step Charts
4th column from the right in the middle where those 2 triplets and a quadrouplet are.)

I find several of the double ratings to be off. NGO Expert double is a 12. PHO Double is only a 17 and that is pretty even with PR on double. Then again, its hard to get a sense of scale since only a handful of boss songs have their double ratings up.

I just find it funny that some reallllly easy songs are rated higher than some 10's. I know Max 300 is a very easy 10 on double, but CSFILSM is not harder and neither is CaptivAte. I'll remember to play FELMO double to see if its a 15, but using the expert double chart as a basis, I doubt it.

I don't think you read my post. I agree Maxx is harder to get a good score on, but ratings are based on how hard it is to pass the song, and LOM is harder to pass.

But even if LOM were easier to pass, they're still about the same. It's not enough to bump Maxx one extra foot.

Also, yeah I noticed Max 300 double is really low. But people don't play doubles much so Konami can get away with misratings.

Again, Unlimited has more air (you've seen the jumps all over the song), and Legend consists mostly of fast stream. It's faster by 13 BPM, but it's not on the same level of difficulty as Unlimited. It is more technically difficult. However, the inherent flaw with DDR ratings is that because people have different preferences and skills, some people will find certain songs easier or harder than other people will. I recall hearing someone say he felt that MAX 300 should be an 8, because he can pass it every time.

This is what makes debating the difficulty ratings very, very... shall we say aimless? Personally I've passed MaxX Unlimited and not The Legend of MAX, but I still don't think the ratings matter all that much.

Much like the expansion of the rating scale for IIDX (from 8 to 12), this rating expansion (10 to 20) allows for songs that are harder than 10 yet are currently classified as 10.

So yeah, the new system is a welcome in my book

its welcome in mine too. I can see X being out of whack but improving its rating system over time however.

Yeah, I hope Konami is flexible with allowing suggestions about the difficulty ratings.

They DO need to fix some of the ratings though. I'm still trying to find out what a 10 qualifies as. Apparently, songs as easy as Look to the Sky heavy to songs as hard as Trip Machine Survivor heavy qualify as 10s.

Well, the 8-12 range, being where the majority of Expert charts fall, is going to be messy, but they've been changing them up a bit and I suspect some of the more glaring errors will be cleared up before release.

From what I gather, it looks like they're trying to define 10 as the harder 7's, ones with longer streams and/or 16ths.

Skimming the list, here's some things I'd change.

Across the nightmare Challenge - 12-13
Afronova - 13
ANGELUS - 11-12
BE LOVIN - 12
BRILLIANT 2U Challenge - 10-11
DYNAMITE RAVE - 12
DYNAMITE RAVE (B4 ZA BEAT MIX) - 11 (The beginning is a bit hard to be a yellow song)
FELME - 15 (It's easier than FAXX, and it's one of the easier 10s)
feeling of love - 10-11
Feelings Won't Fade - 12
HAPPY ANGEL - 11-12
i feel... - 10-11
Paranoia Respect Difficult - 13-14 (All I remember is that I could never pass it....)
Saturn - 13
Silver Platform - 11
SOUL CRASH - 12
Sweet Sweet Love Magic - 13
Sync Challenge - 11-12
The Least 100sec - 11-12
TLOM - 16
WOOKIE WOOKIE - 11

These are just based on memory and quick glances, so this might be wrong, too.
