DDR In Schools

What do you all think about Schools using DDR in gym classes? I think its a good workout if you play it for hours but waiting in line and playing one song in gym isn't going to do much. I think running ladders gets you more in shape, but DDR is more fun... I just think schools aren't the appropriate place for DDR machines. But hey, maybe.

Well a couple of years ago Andamiro was making some sort of deal with the Mexican goverment to allow them to put PIU machines in some Mexican High Schools. I never really found out what happend after.......................

Well thats PIU, and this is DDR.

There was some kind of Deal Konami made to put get PS2s and DDR pads for schools in West virginia. I would dig up the news report but I can't find it at this time.

Whoops sorry about that. But yeah my old school in OC had a PS2, 2 Pads and a copy off DDR MAX that we could play during 1st and 2nd lunch in the Japanese Club room.

Well... cobaltflux's website actually advertises stuff for that exact purpose. They actually produce "practice mats" now for students to properly shadow along to the two that are currently up and playing songs for practice until it's their actual turn. :O That's actually a really cool and nifty idea, hahah!

Too bad it doesn't help improve your PA though.

Here at a local intermediate we have DDR and 2 fluxs. TO be honest i dont think schools should have them. Instead of teaching kids how to be active were making ecceptions and not diciplineing them but just discuising it. i dont know if it will actually help the overweight problem but if it does good for them

We had a PS2 with EX2 and a softmat in the gym at one point in the year. It was never taken out again though. D: Yeah, but that's 'cause the PS2, game, and pad belonged to our English teacher. There wasn't enough funding to buy the damn thing.

Two Xbox's, 4 soft pads, 4 metal pads, and you have DDR in my school. It's that, or many other activites. I picked DDR. It was good, and it did help me maintain my exercise daily.

Also, with 8 pads, the students just formed 8 lines, and it moved by fairly quickly. Thing is, of course not the entire school will be at the DDR at once. The school and teachers will know to rotate it, of course.

My MIDI tech techer only had material for half the semester so the class would play DDR for the other half. In terms of a gym activity, I doubt there would be enough interest among the students for the district to invest any money at all into getting a machine or even the console versions.

At my school, one of the teachers would bring two XBOX's. And some students supplied thier own pads, while the said teacher bought a few more. The district had nothing to do with this(nor would they ever).

That would be hott if ddr was in school but it has to be 3rd mix 4th or 5th mix machines that would be hott to have in gym class instead of sit up and pushup we can play ddr in gym lol
