Not sure if anyone noticed, but the new machines bought apparently have an August update. They might include a hardware fix for the crappy pads; just played at a Dave & Buster's in Columbus, OH that recently opened, and their DDR X machine works FAR better than any of the Gameworks' released pads.
No visible songlist updates though.
How about es/ees?

Question: does anyone know if/when there's gonna be an official page for the US version?
Since there's lots of machines in Local Mode, my guess is that the game has Unlock Codes like in SN2...
I just played on a brand new X machine that was recently purchased (and strangely enough, has e-amuse enabled but no network connection is available), looks like Betson/Konami's reverted back to the original pad design. Works really nice.

They're essentially old style pads outfitted with x-style bars and arrow panels. Don't get me wrong, this is a great improvement.
The height difference in the pad is apparent in the black diamond plate connector box covering the pad wires. The height of the box was made to match the US X pads, but these pads are taller, so now there's like a 1.5 inch ledge that I tripped on.
However, the HD lag is still maddeningly bad and there's not even any new songs unlocked or anything.
