If you don't know what it is, it makes the lanes of the scroll area darker. This makes it eaiser to see the notes while playing songs with horribly bright or distracting bgvideos
Just out of curiosity, do you consider this cheating and if so y, other than "it makes it eaiser".
To give example of a good opnion here
I do not believe it's cheating. It makes it eaiser to see the notes yes, but so does differnt note skins, perspectives, speed mods, etc. You still playing the same step chart, and it doesn't alter the steps in anyway. | |

It's all a matter of perspective.
If they like it or hate it, then that's fine with them. 'So be it' as they often say.
------
Like in my case....
I'm generally not someone who believes on the use of high speed mods beyond x2.0
It's like how I used to hate those who kept on boasting as to how bag and my summer love heavy/expert is just chicken shit.............and then I see them using their x2.5 and x3.0 and they're the ones ridiculing those who can't pass it (like me).
Nowadays, I just don't care anymore (though during times that I did, well......I didn't show much hate that much). Same goes for the people who remove freeze arrows or they want to use rainbow colored arrows instead of the regular ones, then go ahead, be my guest.
If they wanna use it, then so be it.
------------------------
Now in regards to this screen filter thingy.
Well I've seen a couple of vids about it (mostly from the Boomers location test) and from what I can see, I *personally* don't see anything much wrong with it.
Granted, it could either because it removes any distractions or that it becomes easier to read(?). In my case though, I wouldn't want to turn that feature on because I enjoy Yuni or Alice or especially Emi dancing on a 3D-like stage (ie. for SN1, SN2 and DDR X). That's just me though.
---------------
Granted, at the end of the day, I guess it's just personal preference. Feel free to agree or disagree and if you either like it or dislike it, well, I'll let you guys be the judge of that.
Two cents

I just didn't understand why it felt as if he were cheating. the example he gave was that it was like using "hide background" on ITG. Though this is entirly different in the sense that It only shades the lanes (they are still opaque) and the area that isn't lanes is still very vivid and bright and lucid.
I think in the end he was more worried about someone challenging his score b/c he used the feature. But then it got me curious as to what other peoples opnions on this were, which is why i started the poll. I've done it on here and on another site, and to quote someone from on the other site Quote: |

Perhaps?

I also don't consider using any speed mods available, or playing easier difficulty levels, or darkening the background cheating. Unless you're in a tournament, you play the game for the enjoyment you get out of it, and you choose the way you want to play. If it's in the game it's meant to be used as needed or desired. Simple as that, IMO.
