Default Dance Pad Maintenance question

Ok, i have a question that i'm sure most (if not all) of you can relate to:

For the serious PAer you're pretty sure you get that Perfect even if the machine tells you otherwise. And we know the pads are to blame. But my question is what needs to be done so the sensors in the pad register your steps accurately? Do they need to be replaced, cleaned?

Anyone know if stages are sold separately?

Thanks

if your really good at PAing like i think i am. (tries not to brag)
like on a PERFECT machine i will get SDG on most songs 8- and a couple 9's...
on an ok machine i mostly see uncleaned sensors and like 3/4 sensors work and i'll get like 20 greats
and on a POS pad with 1 working sensor per panel i will get like 50 greats and a ton of misses/boo or fail

when that happens i will open the panel and unplug all the sensors and DUST CLEAN AND DUST look for fraying wires and put sensors back in and go to input test to look for broken sensors if the sensor is dead replace it. if its touchy unplug it and put it on the outside and have the best sensors on the inside part. if your still having problem i would recommend you find a new machine.

Sometimes it's the sensors. If they're not very responsive (to me, when pressing each bracket down, if I have to apply more than, like, 2 pounds of pressure, then it's not sensitive enough), then you'll need to replace them, as they may register your step late if you hit it on certain parts of the pad.

Try cleaning the sensors up. Make sure there's no dirt caked around the sensors (we're not looking at clean-enough-to-eat-off-of, but just so there's at least minimal visible dirt), and if you want, unscrew the brackets and wipe them down (if people spill coke or anything on the pads, they can get sticky). Also, make sure the spacers and screws are secured relatively tight enough so the brackets can move freely, but not so tight that you'll never be able to unscrew them again.

Stages I think can be bought separately, but they might be insanely overpriced. Try going through Channelbeat or Betson for sensors, but only if the sensors are mostly dead or dead, because those sensors are quite pricey (CB, you have to buy in bulk).

Right, i think sensors alone are about 36 bucks a pop. but i'll look into it.

some sensors can be real cheap. like i've seen some for 8 but are VERY low quality ~25-30 a sensor wil most likely be a good price for a good enough sensor. but if they are like 36 im guessing its overpriced or it is very good or both
but like ^he said just get out all the dirt you possibly can and make sure its not sticky or sticking
