Dance Pad problem... Please Help!

Well this afternoon, about an hour earlier, i bought DDR X for the PS2 which came with the dance pad.

But when i got home and tried it out and entered the game, the selection kept on spinning and spinning non-stop.

so this makes it so that it's impossible to even select anything let alone play....

When i plugged in my PS2 controller though, it didn't have any problem (though i couldn't scroll up and down for the songs), and the spinning problem stops the moment i unplug the Dance Mat from the PS2

so i'm really hoping someone can help me on this... what can i do?

I live in Canada so sending it to the warranty would be difficult since i need to dial long distance to the warranty office which is in the US.

does anyone know what i can do to solve the problem? i don't want to just waste 40 bucks.

Were you standing on the mat when the game was booting up? If so, it may not have calibrated properly.

That, and you could try smoothing out the mat to make sure one of the sensors isn't being perpetually pressed down.
