Marketplace Rating: 0 | That's what I always disliked about the EVOLVED songs. I'm expecting one set, and boom, either a set that's easier or harder than I expected shows up. I wonder how much more challenging roppongi will be, since it's not spliced like tokyo and osaka...

But sometimes it's not noticeable. Which sucks. ]:
EDIT:: Also~ Does anyone know if they improved the shock arrows? Even just a tiny bit?

Hardest I've seen so far is Pluto the First, and it isn't bad.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | So I was wondering whether anyone in the US really cared about console DDR any more, outside of a few of us.
I don't think anyone knows how truly accurate VGChartz's numbers are, but they don't look good.
X2 was the 42nd best-selling PS2 game in its first week of release, selling just 2,466 copies. (That's ONLY PS2 games btw. It's buried on the all-console chart, where #200 sold 6,316 copies.)
Hottest Party 3 sold 4,244 copies in its first week. Hottest Party 2, despite being a year old, sold 6,709 copies in the same week.
I hope it costs them virtually nothing to develop these games any more, because that's probably about what they're getting back on them.

As for why HP2 actually outsold HP3 in its first week, HP2 was just recently released as game-only for the uber-low price of $19.99, while HP3 is selling as bundle-only for $69.99. My guess is that Konami is sucking the extra profits out of the bundled game and will release a game-only version around the holidays, but who knows. It's really hard to say anything so far with only one week of sales (Not even a full week actually). HP2 looked like it was going to lag behind HP1 in its first few weeks of sales while X looked like it was going to outsale SN2. A year later, and the exact opposite happened, X's sales started lagging while HP2 skyrocketed ahead of HP1.

First, sell the game separate from the pad as most people don't need or want another one. Second, go all out with the songlist and revive a bunch of old KOs; it doesn't cost Konami anything and adds more value for the consumer. Third, shift the difficulty balance up and give long-time players more challenge. The Bemani line has been around for a decade and it seems like all of the other staple series are offering good players more difficulty across the entire songlist, whereas DDR is scaling the difficulty back save for a few "boss" songs.
IIDX did black anothers for many songs on Empress CS and it seems like most of the Pop'n EX charts would keep players interested. DDR didn't cater to its skilled fanbase, the group that would most likely play it for a long time, and instead focused on attracting new players who most likely saw it as a fad and would maybe stick around for one or two releases. If Konami released Extreme JP on the US system, I am willing to bet money it would sell better than X2, even if they kept it in the older interface.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | To be fair, 2 has a LOT of Challenge charts, and we got some good leftovers from SN2 and X AC, like the Freeze/Stream/etc special charts, Mars War, and other cool things.

I mean, out of the 17 new KOs, 11 have charts that are rated 11 or above (technically should be 12 as there's no way A Brighter Day oni is only a 10), not to mention the fact that 7 of them have non-shock arrow oni charts. Compare the license charts on heavy to the heavy license charts on Supernova/EX2 US or DDRMAX-Extreme JP. I still go back to play these releases repeatedly even though they are old, whereas I don't touch SN2 or X much except to play six or seven songs on the list. Maybe it's just a matter of opinion and I am in the minority, but it would be great to have a license chart equivalent of It's a Wonderful Night, Dance,Dance, something that would have been an 8 pre-X.
