Recently I've been hearing a bunch of complaints about Ignition 3.0s. I've known a few people who bought them and had very bad experiences. I got to play on a pair and it was, uh, awkward (I swear I got 10-15 pad misses on one song). I think there have also been some people who had good experiences, but the fact remains that Red Octane is apparently no longer the soft pad leader it once was.
That said, who IS the soft pad leader now? I don't really know of any other soft pad makers except MadCatz (ugh!) and MyMyBox (who I have no other knowledge of whatsoever). Is it impossible to get halfway decent soft pads now? Has anyone tried another manufacturer's pads and had good results?
I ask in part because I just want to know, but also because I was clinging to the hope of getting one of the home DDR mixes, and hard pads won't really be feasible for me for another year (right now I move around a lot). So please don't tell me I'm a deluded fool and there's no hope left for good DDR pads under $300...
(I swear, I thought this post was going to be more concise. Grrr.... )

Unfortunately, my RedOctane Ignition 2.0 Pad is starting to go, and I don't intend on buying a 3.0. It's sad to see RedOctane make such a piece of crap when I LOVED the Ignition 2.0.
I really want to buy a new soft pad that is as similar to the Ignition 2.0 as possible, but I have no idea who makes good soft pads anymore.
Anyone know anything about http://mymybox.com/ddrmxdxv25.html or http://mymybox.com/ddrmbsdx.html ? What about http://ddrgame.com/nedadareddrs.html ?

The 3.0 will last at least a week, but I find that it's generally not worth it.

The older versions were pretty good, so maybe the newer ones are too? (I wouldn't know)

And one other thing. K//eternal's sig kept me occupied for a while.

(It's still awesome, though. And Mario 3 FTW.)
Thanks all for your great advice! I'm checking out the pads you suggested now. BTW, Xeno, what mod is this that you're talking about?

Well, at least that's not something many people can say about their sigs.
BTW, GameStop soft is tolerable if you duct tape it to the ground. It takes my scores down by one or two grades, which is something that could be said of most completely-flat pads.

..okay enough about k//eternal's sig for a moment..
recently, with konami making newer mixes and producing pads with them, 3rd party developers haven't really been able to keep up with the quality that konami produces. RedOctane has also been known to always build shitty gear (5min lifespan on an afterburner pad.. no lie.) So yeah, I wouldn't trust them.
