That's why we've been suggesting alternatives the whole time. And several of them are not bad.

BTW, you can actually find good quality DX pads on eBay, believe it or not. However, you should buy at least one pad from a more reliable source to ensure that you get the hard foam.

I own an Ignition 3.0, and while it does work... it can be a bit troublesome at times. For example, on the ITG PC Beta, it wouldn't register more than 3 arrows at a time (the down arrow wouldn't register if you pressed all 4).

It's quite responsive, but I would DEFINATELY save up for a metal platform like a CF or Afterburner.

official konami pad with plywood mod ftw. get about a 1/2 inch thick plywood from lowes then one of those thick computer chair mat plastic things from staples. use screws to attack the plastic stuff to the plywood and you can remove your ddr pad for a pump or whatever. its what i use and it really wins. doesnt slide or anything. im still using my pad from EX2 and works good as new. before that i used a 3rd party pad and it held up for a couple years, still works actually. i cant reccomend this mod enough.

i really want to make a doubles pad, though. could be tough getting the dimensions just right.

Heh. I'm lucky that I got the Konami pad AND hard floor at my bedroom...

I never have those Ignition (and espeicaly 3.0) pads, but when reading it, I am so thank god that I didn't get one of those.. XP But I did suffer from a broken down arrow of my $4 pad...

I had both an Ignition 3.0 a Naki foam pad (i believe it was Naki, and there were a few lights where the cord meets the pad), and a GameStop X-Box pad. I got the Ignition last year in about October, and it began sucking in November, and it was too unusable but still slightly functional by December. My Naki foam pad.... i've had it since about 2001 or 2002, and it just became difficult to use. It sticks no matter what I do, but it still works better than my Ignition. I've had my GameStop pad for about a year and a half, and a problem with the down arrow has come up, making it a bit difficult to play with, but still functional. I've also played on a Cobalt Flux, and it felt WONDERFUL. I don't think it was perfect, but everyone could tell that it was the best pad ever.

Is there a multiplatform (mostly PS2 and XBox) foam pad that's good enough to not stick and to last very long, but at the same time is fairly cheap? Preferably around $80 so i could buy two. I can't use metal pads or mods though.

You could also buy a TX pad for about 100-130$ at www.liksang.com, for some reason they are cheaper at that site.

Well, Put it this way.. I bought a mad cars pad and nailed it down to old old old ignition pad foam and a piece of wood... and... it ... sucks..

I'm thinking of getting a konami soft pad, and taking carpenter staples and attaching the pad with the foam... we will see how that works out. =/

At one point Konami released a high-level pad that had foam in it. It was supposedly amazingly sensitive and durable, but it was only available in Japan for a short time.

The Ignition is a copy of that pad, so any similar pad is a DX-style pad.

How long ago was that?
I wonder why they stopped making them.
