Default The down arrow

Is it just me or is the down arrow the hardest step to reach? I always find it the step that I miss the most frequently even when I place my foot in its general direction. I know that I'm supposed to reach back farther, but it seems like such a long distance. O_O I hope I'm not the only one with this problem X_X

yeah, u get used to it after a while. you may notice tht u either face your torso left or right, positioning ur feet on any of the four double-combos after some practice with it.

Agreed. Except not really to this day because I don't really see a difference in hitting the arrows but next time I play I'll have to check which arrow I mess up on most.

When playing doubles, I usually find that I don't step far enough to hit the up arrow, but it rarely happens now that I'm better at doubles in general. When I first started playing DDR though, I found that hitting the down arrow on single seemed to be the hardest. It may seem like a longer distance than the other arrows, but that probably has to do with where your body is on the pad, as well as the fact that stepping behind you isn't quite as natural as stepping on the left/up/right arrows. I don't really know how I stopped messing up the down arrow aside from playing more, but it seemed like I had adjusted myself with lots of practice to step "farther back" whenever there was a down arrow.

the down arrow used to be a hard one to hit. i think it has something to do with the way your legs are even able to move? idk thats what i think.

I thought on a lot of soft pads the down arrow actually was slightly farther from the middle of the pad than the other arrows, because of them being not arcade-accurate like metal pads.

Well now it flipped flopped on me. I've been playing on an ITG2 dedicab for about a week now, and yes the up arrow is the hardest to hit in my opinion. So I was playing expert songs passing some 11's and I decided to use my last dollar on Supernova to see how much easier it will be. Well.....I failed AA on heavy, yeah I kept missing the down arrow, I need some help and a Dr. Pepper lol

I don't really have a problem with either the up or down... except when it comes to crossovers. I have no problem doing LDR or RDL crossovers. But when it comes to RUL or LUR crossovers, I have yet to get those down yet.

I think it partially has to do with our biological mechanics seeing how it is harder to shift our weight backward than it is to go forward because of the shape of our bodies and the way our joints bend.

The down arrow is also harder to hit because the down arrow is harder to see than the up arrow, given that the player is looking forward in the direction of the screen.
