Marketplace Rating: 0 | Flashing 10s or 11/12? So yeah, there's been alot of discussion in other places as of late. Everybody seems to want 11 and 12-footer ratings in DDR, however there's another group that wants the Flashing 10 system to return. Which side are you on?
My opinion:
I oppose the 11/12 system. Adding new numerics to the system smells rather strongly of ITG, which DDR is not. Besides, DDR already had an 11 rating of sorts - Flashing 10. If that was brought back, I don't really see any reason to complain considering it's the same thing as 11 yet it's strictly a DDR thing.
If someone wants a 12th rating, simply add a "Flashing 10+". I can envision this as the ten feet having a similar thing going on as the full lifegauge from DDRMAX-EXTREME.
Problem solved.
EDIT: I encourage you to post your opinions on this!

Heck, IIDX made a jump all the way from 1-8 to 1-12. Back when DDR first came out, it was only a 1-8 scale. Later on as harder songs came out in 3rd mix, they added the 9 rating, then later the 10 rating in MAX2, and so on. I think its about time for them to bump it up again since theres so many different levels of 10 right now. Why does it have to stay at 10 so badly? Besides, level 12 sounds more awe-inspiring than level 10 anyway .
Idk, if we wanna stay at the numbers we were always used to, why didnt they come out with the Flashing 8 back on 3rd mix?
And I also say do NOT keep it the way it is. DDR's current rating system is getting pretty heavily criticized the way it is now.

| One thing about this, I definatly agree 100% that DDR is not ITG and should definatly not go scrambling to be more like ITG like some people that I've debated with seem to want (like adding hands and mines in DDR *shudder*). But that doesn't mean that since ITG did something, DDR can't do something somewhat like it. In this case, I'm saying that just because ITG had ratings above 10, doesn't mean that DDR now has to STAY at 10, just to avoid being like ITG. Its not like ITG copyrighted the higher than 10 rating. | |

Would using A .1 Scale be too small? 9.1, 9.2 and such.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | 15 would be WAYYYY over the top. I agree with MdX MaxX that even the hardest of DDR songs would only be easy 12's. 15's by DDR standards would be completly undoable by ANYONE.
If you meant stretch and rerate existing levels to fit a 1-15 scale similar to what IIDX did, that wouldnt be too bad i guess, but it would just be confusing. I'd rather 8 still equal a current 8, a 10 to still equal a current 10 and so on, but simply add 11 and 12 on the end. | |
