Default Is freestyle really dead?

well I was wondering, if anyone left in the DDR community are still Freestylers?

I never see them in the arcades anymore and tournaments these days are ALL about speed and tech. I like playing that way myself, I think I am an all around DDR player. I can goof around and make FS routines off the top of me head, or take the time to work up a entire FS routine to show at the arcades and I can step with the best of them...

I was just wanting to find any other Freestyle players that I could talk to,.. if there were any left..

Freestyle is pretty stupid. Most people don't really know how to do it right or stress the machine out. I remember one time this black guy was freestyling on a Max2 and he flipped off of the machine and broke of the lights on the side.

The emphasis is pretty much perfect attack these days because I honestly feel its the easiest to do on a DDR machine then a freestyle. Not to say its a bad thing, we all love the sight of an AAA. But as mentioned before most people either don't know were to start or do things to damage the machine and have caused others to frown. I'll admit, I miss freestyle too because seeing them on stage has always been more entertaining then watching two perfect attack players lost in a daze of arrows.

ya, freestyle was just really a fad. It faded a while ago. now the cosest thing you will get to is a spin, or the matrix walk before the song even starts, but that is all.

I freestyle when I bored, not that I play very much anymore. I'd freestyle more if I would remember to wear knee pads, and gloves.

I think FS could come back. I mean there are some people you can really dance for real and play ddr and really make people see that it IS a dancing game and not just about stomping...

I mean I hate how people who watch might think that thats all there is to DDR. And in a way if scares people off from playing cause they think that you have to be an expert to play. FS shows you can have fun a mess around. And look about twice as awesome than someone who is just stepping. Granted that person is a good Freestyler

Check here and you'll see that 3 out of 43 people would consider themselves some sort of freestyler.

I wholeheartedly agree. And I hate to admit this (and hopefully won't get flamed for this), but from my observations, it seems like any dance game in general hasn't really been considered "cool" for a long time. The public will see people perfect attacking 10+ footers with a typical progression in thought:

Initial response: "Damn, sure got my attention."
2nd response: "They're probably people with no life who took time to memorize that" (and we all know we don't memorize these things).
3rd response: "They can be circus freaks."
All the while: "They sure look funny doing that."

That last response I included concerns this thread in the most obvious manner. Now let's be honest, when was the last time you saw someone perfect attacking and thought they actually looked good doing it? Through all my experiences and observations through the years, I've only found ONE person who is able to look good while perfect attacking. The rest of us, however, may hunch over, stomp disgracefully, and flail. It may be possible that DDR and the like could be considered more "cool" if people started freestyle again. And I don't mean freestyling as in dorky handplants and kneedrops, but as in doing actual dance moves like crib walking or any moves one would do in a nightclub. I remember once watching a video of someone crib walking to "After the Game of Love," and thought it was cooler and more impressive than AAing PSMO and the like.

DON'T DOUBLE POST.

If you want freestyle NOT to die, START FREE STYLING.

And for those who critique it: at least those people DO it.

Totally, and completely agree. FYI, I can't stand how people look when they perfect attack. It looks like they have to go the bathroom really bad...

BTW This thread rocks!

Note: This is my one hundredth post!!!
