Default Help with my new metal Pad! :O

Hey, guys!

After my Ignition 1.0 finally croaked after 2-3+ years of service, my parents got me a new hard pad as a gift for my birthday 2 weeks ago.

I'm not quite sure, but I think it is either a Tx-1000/2000 (it didn't come with a bar, if that makes any difference). My parents picked it up at the local Fry's Electronics.

Anyhow, the pad itself works fine, but I think there's something screwy with the separate connector box thing that has the START and SELECT buttons on it, as well as the PS2 and XBox adapters on it.

When I play my DDRMAX 1 & 2 (*US ver.), for some reason, it resets to the main menu as soon as I try starting Game Mode (as if START were being held down the entire time). Also, half the time the SELECT button does not work, and the START button seems to do a soft reset or something to reset the entire game whenever I press it.

Yet for some reason, SUPERNOVA works just fine with none of these problems. I have yet to test my Japanese EXTREME for issues.

Weird.

Anyone know why this is or if I can get a replacement for the box or anything?
I'll check the box in a while to check what brand of pad it is, but there are no real markings on the pad.

Thanks in advance!

It was just a faulty START/SELECT box thing.

I returned it for a new one last night, and this one works perfectly.

By the way, the brand name is CypherGames. I've never heard of it, but it looks really similar to the tx-1000/2000 models from what I've seen.

Problem solved.

Hmmm, perhaps this only applies to the DDRMAX 1 and 2 as Konami released the version without any faulty glitches. Have you ever noticed why DDR Extreme 1, 2, and SuperNova (US home versions) all have the options menu at the song select screen? It's cuz Konami didn't want to do that hold X to get the menu up and it causes some malfunctions that go with any mat.

I just got a $112 Red Octane mat the other day and I know what you mean. So my advice is to return the START/SELECT box and say it's a defect and see what the clerks at Fry's can do for you. But if it doesn't work opt for Red Octanes, they're awesome!
