It's hard to believe that I have not been part of the thriving Bemanistyle community for more than half a year now. *Breath of fresh "Scartlet Cyberspace background* *Sniff* "Ah... it feels good to be back."
I am posting this thread because one of my friends told me about a the "Legendary Masters" of Dance Dance Revolution on this website. She mentioned DJ Paranoia and how he stated he is able to get "AA" songs on Healing Vision (Angelic Mix) on Heavy. Wow!
This sounds like the place I need to be.
Okay. Here's my problem
I am an okay DDR player. I'm not too bad at singles ("Bs" on Max 300 [Heavy], "Cs" on "The Legend of Max [Heavy], and "Ds" on Paranoia Survivor Max [Challenge]).
I have just recently begun doubles after three years of playing DDR, and I just passed Love Shine on the 8 Foot Doubles [all this time, I didn't know that the levels for the steps changed on doubles! I've been living in the DARK! "Genom Screams" is a... Doubles 10?! I thought it was an 8... ]
I need help with one type of step on Doubles--it's those damn "turns" (I guess that's what they are).
The arrows are "Left, Down, Right, Left, Down, Right." You know. Like the ones in "Break Down" on Singles, but only they go ALL the way across the board. I can "1-leg" it (hop across the last set of 3 arrows on one leg--almost breaking it in the process. In fact, my leg still hurts right now and my ankle feels...out of place...ow *Cry*)
Do I have to turn my back to the screen and spin with these types of arrows?
I tried it, but I almost fell off the damn pad.
For this very reason, I can do most of the 7-Foot heavy Doubles, but cannot complete "Dive Into The Night."
I feel quite embarressed because I know I can do better than fail a 7-foot double after playing a set of 3 ten foot songs on singles.
Of course, I now do realize that Doubles is virtually a different game (not Dance Dance Revolution, rather, Dance Dance Dance Dance Revolution Revolution [DDDDRR]).
Can anyone help me out on this?
If not, that's cool too.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Later.
-Tiger

Wow! | Man, what a gross exaggeration. djp blows ass and he can AAA Let Them Move Beginner, really. Honestly, have you or your friend not heard of every song up to DDR EXTREME being AAA'd on every difficulty by now? Quote: |

| No, STEPCHARTS change on Doubles. A significant majority of songs are modeled closely to their Singles counterpart, only changed to cover both pads. Then there are some that have their own unique chart, which can warrant a foot rating change. Quote:

| When you're denoting Doubles steps, try putting a number 1 or 2 to denote which pad. Since your pattern goes like this:
1L-1D-1R-2L-2D-2R
Beginning on the left pad, assume your left foot on Left and right foot on Down. You will step like this: L-R-L-R-L-R.
If you still can't visualize it: When your left foot has hit 1R, you've done a crossover and you'll be facing east/right. When your right foot goes for the 2L arrow, you will face parallel to the screen. When your left foot goes for 2D, you will turn your body so that it faces west/left. When your right foot goes for 2R, you should end facing west/left. You've basically mirrored your crossover from the left pad.
Here's a good FAQ to read up on Doubles.

By now, that's about the level that every average tournament goer should be at (if even). It's old news that there are people like LilQ or Windeu (sp?) who can AAA the vast majority of songs on DDR and get 100%'s on ITG. Welcome to the new world of truth. Nice to have ya back. EDIT: to put things into perspective, I myself can AA Healing Vision Angelic Heavy, but I don't consider myself to be that good.
Anyway, as for the doubles thing, all I can say is to keep playing until you get used to it. And if you meant 1L-1D-1R-2L-2D-2R from Reenee's terminology, you simply alternate left and right feet. On the 2L-2D-2R part, which seems to be your problem, the right foot starts on the 2L, then you should pivot on this right foot counterclockwise and land on the 2D with your left foot. The 2R is then self-explanatory (right foot).
Edit: It seems that Reenee gave you the link, which may be more helpful, while I was typing this out.

Heh. I have been out for a while now.
It's still difficult for me to imagine a AA on Healing ~Vision Angelic Mix~ for doubles.
Singles I can AA it on a good day,
but I haven't been as constant with the game since I've begun my career.
Considering anyone is still following this thread, what does everyone think of the
new DDR arcade machine (there is not one in my ccurrent city but I have played it before.
I was glad to see Dragon Blade on it--but songs like "Flow" I do believe are somewhat
out of sync [respectivly).
Thanks for the update. ^~
Take care.

Tiger M. Gales, if your question has been aswered, please state so. If you're going to get on the subject of SuperNOVA, and ask questions about that, post them in the SuperNOVA (Arcade) thread.

good luck with doubles too, I can't play doubles so I cant give you any good techniques (because I have a TX 2000 and a TX 1000 which are differnt elevation). But again practice makes perfect, so just play until you get the hang of things.
