Default homebrew DDR pad (wood D:)

So it's summer and I made a DDR pad out of wood. Thought I'd share. Works fine except the buttons aren't sensitive enough but I'll fix that in due time.

I could stain it but I think I'll do that on the second one I build if I bother because some of the cuts are a bit off on this one.

If theyre all nailed down, how does that work? (im presuming the sensors are underneath the wood)...

yeah, sensors are underneath. They're bolted down and the sensitive pads have spaces underneath to compress and trigger the switch.

chippermonky: Does it work based on the persons foot coming down on the upper layer of wood, causing the wood to flex, which in turn triggers the sensor? As for Mr. Owens comment about splinters, yeah, I agree. without some laminate on the wood I would think that it might have some un-intended side effects.

Generally when playing DDR I wear socks, I would be worried about cracking the pad if using shoes on wood.

no laminate on it. I've played with bare feet once and no splinters . Lucky me. Not gonna finish this one though because I have some things misaligned so I'm just gonna make a new one. This will be my test dummy.

Neural: Yeah, you got it exactly right on how it works.
