Well, the question is....
How has DDR changed your life in physical fitness means? How much weight have you lost playing it? How long did it take? Have you cut out any other things that could cause weight gain? Basically, what is your story with DDR in your life?
I started playing DDR when I was around 11ish (15 now) with arcade some. Later on I bought Extreme 2 when it came out and played a little. I didn't really get into it because of school and I was a video gamer at the time so I stopped playing. I gained weight up until about 205lbs!
I went to the doctor's and he said by looking at my family's history, I could get Diabetes of I didn't start losing weight. Normally, I would ask the doctor is DDR was good enough and most doctors agreed but normally said normal fitness would be better. So I tried running, cycling, and other stuff everyday, but I only lost up to 5lbs.
Now I was 200lbs, and tired everyday from countless 3 hours of gym I asked for at school and I tried exercising at home. I had enough of it. I started playing DDR again. Since then I've bought the Extreme and Supernova series, I've starting to play at the arcade more, and I've been cutting down bad foods. I became good enough to play and get As on songs like Love Shine and A thing called LOVE, Bs on songs like Xepher, Sakura, Daikenkai, and some other good grades.
Now after a few months of on-and-off playing, which I am playing everyday for 1000 calories now, I'm 182lbs and lost about 23lbs in total. I cut out sodas for a while myself but I am getting hooked on ginger ale so I have to stop...which I am today. I'm hoping to get to about 170-160ish lbs by time school comes back.
What is your story? | |

During the time I was doing 5's and 6's but in the summer of 2006 I lost about 20lbs and went up to a 7 in DDR. Then I didnt stop and lost the other 25 lbs doing 8s 9s and now 10's ( Thank YOU ITG!)

When I started playing when i was like 11, I was a little overweight... and now I am 17 and am underweight. Thats all I can really say.
Lets just say DDR is the thing that keeps me underweight, and whenever I take a trip to a DDR Location, I loose about 2500 calories (according the the BZN machine).
Because of the game I never surpass 140 pounds. I think I am about 6 feet tall (I have no clue), and apparently thats underweight according to my last heck up with my doctor.

I am 5'10 and I weighed over 200 pounds. I was never obese, but I was and still am overweight. I had tried several times to start one form of exercise or another but nothing ever stuck.
I started in March of 2007, and lost a small amount of weight during the following months. I was playing about 4 days a week on light and standard. When summer hit and I had a lot more free time, I started playing 6-7 days a week, and moved up to heavy. This is where I really started noticing the effects of the exercise. I probably got down to about 185 or even less, but it's hard to say how much fat I lost because at the same time, I got a lot more muscles in my legs (which I believe is from never using the bar or a chair, but please let's not start a bar/nobar debate).
Even though the amount of weight wasn't drastic, comparing myself with old pictures told the tale. I also have a noticeable increase in energy. I don't have any noticeable fat anywhere except on my gut which stubbornly persists, but is getting smaller. I gained about five pounds during the 2007-2008 schoolyear due to only playing 3 or 4 times a week. Now that the summer is here, i've been hitting the pad. My goals for the summer are to get down to 175-180 and to pass Maxx300.
The only lifestyle changes I made were that I've started playing DDR, and I cut out High-Fructose Corn syrup, which may or may not matter. Also, I find myself taking stairs more and going on longer walks with the dogs, but I attribute this to having more energy, and not to a conscious decision to be more active.

They started asking me carefully-worded questions about anorexia and bullemia. Since then I've been slowly gaining weight, and am now at 112, but now I have some muscle definition.

I get there early usually, or in the early afternoon, and then at night I leave go home, and go to sleep. Sort of like today, except I ate spaghetti O's, because thats all I felt like cooking.

I don't want to have huge shins. T_T

happy side of this story -- i like to play ddr 'till i pass out from exhaustion cuz i play nonstop rounds for three hours straight ...uh..no -- wait...that's kinda bad
