Default How To Pronounce Song Names

After having a discussion with my friend on how to pronunciate Xepher (I say "ze-fer" not "zee-fer"), I decided, to start a thread where people can learn how to properly pronunciate song names(and artists too). So to start off....how do you pronounce Xepher?

dictionary.com says Xenon can go both ways, with a long or short E.

And I pronounce Xepher like zephyr, which is with the short E. Sounds weird with a long E.

Well, I say Zeenon. I've never heard of Zenon. But I wonder if Konami actually wanted us to say songs a certain way. And what about Kakumei? I pronounce it Kakumayee. Anyone else care to help out here?

For me:
Zenon=Zee-non
Xepher=Ze-fer
Kakumei=Ka-ku-may

for artists, I've heard people pronounce RevenG as Raven-G, Reven-G and Revenge. I personally say "Revenge"

haha how odd. down here in Australia we pornounce as Zenon, well thats how ive learnt it in school. either xenon has a different pronounciation for the 2 countries or i was taught bullshit in chemistry class.

as for kakumei - 'ka-ku-may' as mavrik said.

Xepher = Zeh-fer

I've heard people say Zee-fer and Zay-fer, which sounds stupid. It should be pronounced like the proper word "Zephyr".

Xenon = Ze-non or Zee-non

Kakumei = Kah-ku-may

NAOKI = Nah-O-Kee?

Yup, I also say Revenge. To me, any other way would be weird. What about Tsugaru. Many people have had a bit of trouble with its pronunciation. I say it "Su-ga-ru". It's just that some people don't keep the T silent.

Those people usually don't have much sense of foreign languages.

For all the other things throughout the topic:
Kakumei- Kah-ku-may
Naoki- Nah-O-kee
RevenG- Revenge
Tsugaru- su-ga-ru

NAOKI is really pronounced "Now-key".

As for the rest, I'm pretty much with everyone else.

yeah i actually saw that .59 is actually pronounced as tengoku instead of saying the actual numbers and the point. Which makes some kinda sense after I learned a couple of japanese words and numbers and stuff.

The T in "tsu" isn't completely silent. It's a soft "t" sound. The only way I know how to type it out in text would be as follows: tSU-GA-RU. The T sound is there, it's just very miniscule and short.

And yes, I KNOW Japanese doesn't have stressed syllables, but it's the only way I knew how to type it out. Don't bite my head off.

That would explain the goli overlay images:

I always wondered what tengoku meant. As far as pronouncing .59, I just always said five-nine. But I've heard people call it decimal/point-five-nine, or decimal-fifty-nine, but that's too much to say for a three character word.

When I first played Kakumei on max2, I always thought it was pronounced
"Kaw-Koo-May". Then I went to the arcade and asked someone about it and they just stared at me like I was a duck.
