Adding to that, the only way I really thought the Xbox/PS2 titles varied between one another was the use of the arcade song select system on the PS2 (for most of the titles anyway), and the Xbox titles always had a different song select screen (after the first Ultramix). The dancers looked better on the Xbox versions... well, except for Ultramix 1, they looked pretty ugly in that one.
And I honestly preferred the BGVideos in the Ultramix series to the official ones in the PS2 versions, don't ask why.
As for the announcer, I always play with him/her turned off, so I never really have to deal with that.

DDRX could easily be mistaken as Ultramix 5 if it wasn't for the smooth framerate and using the SuperNOVA engine. I agree with the majority, a lot of the commisioned songs are terrible and the presentation is often poor. I don't like many of the artists that appeared in the series from JT1UP, to Jondi & Splesh, to Nevarakka whatever, etc. Yes I'm a traditionalist first and foremost and 4th Mix Plus is still the greatest DDR mix of all time. Many people agree with that.

Remember, Thuggie D and Big Idea are both KCEH's fault.
The crossovers were really nice, but most of them were paid DLC, and most of them are on PS2 mixes now anyways.

Sooooo... I have no real problems with either of them.
The one big thing I agree with is that Ultramix 2 had lag problems, but they weren't so bad that they kept me from playing.

The PS2 games can function with a constant frame rate, but you get boring charts, while the X-Box games gives you more challenging and (arguably) better constructed charts, but it's jumpy frame rate affect the quality of the game. You can either have it function or you can have more "professional" charts. If you want both you're shit out of luck since Universe still suffers from the problems the Ultramix games despite being on a TECHNOLOGICALLY SUPERIOR CONSOLE.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | Universe 1:
weird ass quest mode
framerate was good with videos turned off
crossovers were okay
Universe 2:
basically Universe 1 with a different skin and more licenses and Until Forever/Eternus
Universe 3:
great new songs and crossovers
framerate is inconsistient (slow even with videos turned off)
easy to unlock songs
some questionable Onis (Kind Lady)
Why are the PS2 mixes allergic to kors k and DM Ashura?

Marketplace Rating: 13 | See, that's weird. I have absolutely NO problems with Universe 3, with Videos/Dancer on even.
And maybe you'll start seeing more DM Ashura in PS2/PS3(?) DDR mixes given that he just showed up in IIDX.
And I have no earthly idea on kors k, maybe the developers just don't care?

I remember when starmine was a highly wanted song on DDR. (And a DAMN fucking shame it never hit the arcades)

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I have Ultramix and UM2 and they're pretty good. UM2 had a lot of IIDX crossovers (starmine, route 80s, etc.) and Ultramix, well I don't know. The framerates were smooth on my Xbox (It was refurbished; probably why) but I noticed on my friend's, like the menu animation on Ultramix, it froze constantly. If that won't bother you that much and you want it anyway, get it.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | Ultramix 2 was awesome, I played it for countless hours. It was probably one of my favorite U.S. releases of DDR. It had some nice crossovers from other games, as well as some nice new songs, and remixes.
Ultramix 1 was ok, I never really played it that much except for at a friends house. and even then we got sick of it pretty quick.
Ultramix 3 was pretty good. I did not like the theme, or the extremely long loading time to get into the game if you had extra content.
Ultramix 4 was good as well. It had some really great songs, but at the the same time some ones I really hated.
Its also worth pointing out that none of the games work on xbox 360, so you have to have a original xbox to play them.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I played 2-4 and like all three of them. My favorite is probably actually 4; the videos are much better looking by this point, and the few Bemani crossovers there are are awesome. What other Bemani game other than beatmania IIDX 4th style CS can you play GIRIGIRI DADDY at home?
All three are games that I can tell Konami spent a lot of time, money, and effort on.
Unlike Hottest Party. | |

why is everyone ignoring the part where even first mix can run at 60FPS during training mode on a PS1 but the XBox can't run the games above 40 even with the background movies/dancers off
