I have an idea about Universe

Before I get into what I was going to say, I just wanted to state that I have no clue where this should be classified. I think it should be in this forum, but if you need to move it to Dance Dance Revolution Simulation, then be my guest.

Ok. We all know that the 360 uses USB wires. Well, is the Universe dance mat wired? If not, then is it still USB? Because if it is, it could be possible to plug it into your PC, configure it to auto-detect in XBCD DDR Mat version, and configure it in Stepmania. That would be perfect, because whenever you run out of songs to play on Universe, you could just plug it into your PC and poof. A pretty much unlimited list of songs to play whenever you want.

There have been no details about the pad and I cannot recall anything special about it from player experiences way back in E3.

And I'm sure it's pretty obvious that we could probably use this as another pad for use on StepMania. I don't see any further discussion about this anymore.

I was under the impression that Konami developed an original Wireless pad for Universe. I wonder if that will increase the price of the Game/Pad Bundle...?

Microsoft isn't releasing their proprietary wireless format to 3rd parties yet. That's why you don't see any wireless controllers other than the offical one.

Thats actually kind've a good thing in my book. Is there any 3rd party controller replacement that is ever any good?

Well, this is a double edged sword, for Guitar Hero 2, we will be stuck with wired controllers (for some people, this is the way they want to play).
Oh, I hate to break it to you, but Red Octane makes at least two pads that have a USB connector, so you really wouldn't have to wait for the 360's pad... I can only imagine that it WILL be wired, batteries and lag would be a nightmare methinks.

it has to be wired. wireless would have alot of lag issues. trust me i know, when i tried to play shind bad on SM with my wireless keyboard i pressed the buttons too fast for the keyboard to respond accurately.

My logitech wireless keyboard works perfectly fine with stepmania. Must be something wrong with your keyboard. There is nothing wrong with wireless, as we've seen from the wireless Guitar Hero controller, its just harder to implement.

Expect $70 for the bundle based on current pricing trends, maybe $80 but that's really stretching consumer tolerance. There will be no wireless pad because it would be stupid for various reasons as described already.

I understand that the current USB pads on the Market will not work on 360, the question posed was for Stepmania Compatibility.
And about the 360 d-pad being shit (which it, well, is.) there are two new designs coming out... whenever the heck Microsoft feels like releasing them (I know this because Pro Evolution Soccer fans are foaming at the mouth for these)
