The one advantage I see with the PS3 is it's region-free so I wouldn't have to use swap disc to import the Japanese versions.
I think another PS2 game this year...and then PS3 versions when it drops to $299...yeah... |
Thats more like it!! I'd be willing to pay that... Quote:

EDIT: Whoops two posts in one click.

the problem with using the same songlist is that each market wants different songs. the general american audience doesn't give a shit about anime intro songs for anime they have never seen. the general japanese audience doesn't care about ashley tisdale. the european audience doesn't care about EITHER of them.

so now its up to us whether what version of the game should we get and play. if you're into those kylie minouge whatevers then choose the DS version, if you're into high school musical-like crappy songs or the chris brown IDGAFF song, then choose DDR US, and if you're into complete arcade style songlist that is so biased then choose DDR JP. Ok.
If you just want certain songs from those different versions of the game just download their simfiles and play stepmania...

That sounds like it's not japanese at all but it was made in Japan. People don't care about songs like japanese ones and it doesn't embarrass them.

DDR on ps3 is bad because:
1. few people own the console
2. even fewer people who own the console care about DDR
3. I don't own the console, it's AU$700 right now and I'm not THAT crazy about DDR...
DDR could be good on ps3 because:
1. it's not region locked, if there are japanese exclusive games, it wouldn't be a problem, and people wouldn't mod their systems to get past the region protection and realize that because it's modded they don't have to buy it, they can just download.
2. it would potentially boost the ps3's sales, in turn giving some more games to those people that own it if we're feeling like helping some people out...
3. modding is in incredibly early stages, the ps3 might not even get modded at all, let alone within the next DDR's release.
but IMO, keep it on ps2 for the time being because I don't have $700 to suddenly pull out of my ass.

PS3:1,673,063
Wii: 5,100,000
Xbox 360: 548,308
These are all as of the beginning of the year, but even though PS3 has been doing better, I doubt that margin has changed drastically.
P.S. It's not like Xbox has ever sold well in Japan, so that 2nd place doesn't mean that much :S.

last year i think we found out about SN2 through the esrb rating system, then konami displayed the game at e3 like a week or two later.
so i think within the next 2 or three weeks we'll finally find out what the new game is and what system its for.
