Default idk which pad to buy for stepmania...

'm thinking of buying metal pad for DDR. but i need one for PC ver. stepmania. i'm afraid to buy wrong metal pad and afriad that it might not work for stepmania. so i thought why not post in here and here some answers. can anyone help me which metal pad to buy that would work for PC stepmania? and it would be better if you guys can actually show the link to specific metal pad. the price isn't really the problem but i'm thinking of less then $250 or close to that range.

thx for the help

Though I disagree with their business ethics, the RO pads are probably one of the best for your money.

ouch, by reading some reviews on DDRFRAK's forum i heard that the RO AB is a terrible metal pad, i have a MMB Nexen and use a ps2->usb converter so i can play stepmania, total cost = ~$270, eventhough i was dissapointed when it first came, the pad becomes more sensitive as you play it

It has a PC connection and PS2 connection. Stepmania autodetects and maps pads so i wouldn't worry.

For an actual pad I'd reccomend a TX series, they seem to do well in that price range. Haven't checked a Nexen in person, but I've heard they're alright as well.

Honestly.. get a cobalt flux and don't worry about connecting it to your PC. I bought an afterburner just for the fact of "I want it to connect to my PC".. and it was horrible. It would disconnect itself(the usb would stop detecting it for some odd reason?) and when i sent it back they just sent me a new control box.. with the same problem. Just get a cobalt.

I think he means buy DDR for consoles. If you can afford a metal dance pad, you can afford a DDR game or two for PS2.

The CF can only connect to PC since just recently. I think you have to contact them to get a USB control box, and then you need some drivers which have been conviniently put on the forum.

The RedOctane AfterBurner is not as crap as DDR Freak's lamers would like you to believe. At least mine isn't. I've had mine for about a year and a half (meaning it's been through countless hours of EXTREME 2, In The Groove, STR!KE, and SuperNOVA) and it's still going strong. The actual arrows (not sensors) aren't too durable and have a few cracks in them, which hurts the aesthetic appeal of the dance pad, but other than that it works just as fine as when I purchased it (very well).

I hear MyMyBox Blue Sharks are great... Anyone know about them?

Why won't you get those cheap, plastic ones? They're extremely affordable, quite durable, and is simple to use. Although it may slip out of place. Unless you can afford a metal pad. Inspeaking of which, to help you out a bit, you might want to check out the old Red Octane or Cobalt pads.
