Im trying to install DDR Extreme on my cab (it currently has Ex Plus! on it) which I let it boot up the new CD, it installed it on the flash-rom and pc-card. When it was done I got this message.
Ok, my camera skills are useless, it reads. Quote:
INFO 509
Installation complete.
Please turn power off and
install security module
then reboot the machine
| I have no clue what the security module is, I got told it was some blue thing on the back, which the only blue thing I could find was this, which has 4 little switches on it. All are currently in the off position.
I tried just turning the power back off and on but It just keeps re-installing it and giving me the same message, any ideas people?
Oh, and bonus points question, I have these loose wires on the left hand side of the machine (the red and black ones)
What are they for and where should they be connected if anywhere?

They will most likely give you all the right hardware and stuff that you need. You may actually need to buy the system board again, because it seems that you have an American machine. All of the errors are usually in Japanese.

When you look at the 573 board (you don't need to remove the metal casing), you should see a big plastic blue cartridge inserted through the top of the board (when taking the 573 out, look from top down on the board, it'll be on the right side). If it's not there, you'll see a rectangular hole and a slot that looks similar to that of a PCI slot/NES cart slot/whatever.
That's the security module that the game is looking for (your bootleg should take care of checking the version of the cart). The bootleg should only look for the cart's existance, but nothing more. If it's not a bootleg, then it'll say the cart is incompatible with your version.
As for those wires, ignore them.
And DO NOT touch those little 4 dipswitches.

Im not worried about what version anymore, I just want the dam thing working again so I can clean it up. And AAA something
If the Ex CD is in it just re-installs and asks to be rebooted.
If the Plus! CD is in it just repeats itself during bootup.
Help. Will pay tokens for whoever figures it out. Or yaoi.
If you have a good knowledge of the workings of a DDR cab msn me: gtmaster_R@hotmail.com

If you still have problems, PM me. I know someone you can talk to.

I put the flash card in the bottom slot, and loaded it up with the original Ex CD, which resulted in a error saying the flash rom cant be found, so I try the Plus! CD.
After the machine asing me (in japanese) to push the test button, Amazingly it boots up and I look in glee as the songs load ( Now loading.. (0-248)) as it should. Then this happens as it finishes loading.
Uh... im sure I had the Plus! CD in... why is the original software here. Does it actually work?!?
So I try a game, but theres no sound, but all the menus work like normal, then I get to the music selection screen.
I Had a lol here.
None of the songs had loaded. The only music that was playing was the roulette / 'how to play the game' music. Course when time ran out there was nothing to pick and the machine rebooted itself.
Tho I could get into the operators menu finally. Only thing I could find (probably the cause) is this. Quote:

I went into the operators menu (plus cd) and appended / intialized the flash card.
Rebooted the machine and the game WORKS. (With the original software but with the plus cd in the drive, wtf?)
Tho it has font glitches (timer, mod menu, high score names all appear as weird glitch boxes) and the speed up is still there when you first play it, it goes away if you dont pick heavy and you cant get it back.
WEIRD. Oh well at least I can play
