That is a very cool idea. From the sounds of it though, I would still prefer the traditional metal pad. I like to be able to feel the pad underneath me so that I can keep myself centered. Just my opinion though. Still a cool find though.
hm... well you could make extremely minimal movements, and end up FC'ing really hard stuff (vertex^2 anyone?) you wouldn't even have to step, just slide your feet a little bit. It's a great idea, but say goodbye to solo (for now) and being any good at the arcade.

GOLD will come with 2nd conclusion!! Just have some trust. I can't always tell my source! But, in the end, you'll see i was right and this conversation won't matter anymore.
Very cool! But in my opinion, I think the metal machines are better, but the good side about the laser is that you can play on a soft surface, like carpet, which is a releif in alot of cases.
I'm pretty sure that it'l be perfected so it can do more things. That is cool and takes up less space. The only thing is that my Dance pad's arrows are raised so I know where I'm stepping. I do really bad on dance pads where the arrows aren't raised unless the pad is bolted down because it slides and I don't know where I'm stepping anymore.
That looks SO COOL THOUG! It's like something from teh future.
that is true, one can try to do ddr on any type of surface that is avaible meaning even on carpet or others. one thing that may be a problem is that the frame might get in the way sometimes when someone is doing doubles or something and wants to switch players and they accidentaly knock it over or somethign other. anoher thing is that after looking at the lasers, it apperes that there is only two laser lines intersecting on each sections so if they try to press somewhere else in the "button" area it would'nt register would it? maybe they can add more intersecting lines to better detect the footfalls...
