Maybe its an attempt by Konami to hide themselves. Remember that "Akira" from
Extreme 2 made a cover of Oops I did it again
and I will survive. Or Come Clean which was
covered by "NM" and featured on SN. And we can say who these individuals really are.
Or to be more exact, it's an attempt to replace dancemania by making covers of popular or once popular songs no matter the bpm, the mood and/or the genre (sorry Konami).
But back on the topic, I think it's somebody's pseudonym that we'll have a hard time figuring out. | |

How anyone can hate on ME AGAINST THE MUSIC and My Favorite Things is beyond me.

And the one that appeared in DDR Extreme 2 was completely different from the one in 5th mix. The 5th mix song was a Dancemania license, and the one used in Extreme 2 was a different cover by a different artist.
I think you're thinking of Hot Limit in 5th mix vs. DDR Universe.

Yeah, the version of Oops on 5th was completely different than the Ex2 version.
Also the new versions of La Bamba and Long Train Runnin' aren't remakes of the old ones; they are both just covers of the originals.
