Do you guys know of any dance pad that lasts a long time and is worth the money? Most of my pads wear off and become unuseable in less than a year even though i dont stomp that much . Thanks
I have 2 cobalts right now. One of them is completely dead due to loose wiring and laziness on my part. Also, both pads have loose screws now from playing too much. Stomping shakes them up and totally screws up (no pun intended) the holes so that they dont even have threads anymore. Id say i had the first one for 2 years and the second for a year.
Im not sure about the blueshark, but i heard its pretty solid
Not sure about the Blue Shark, but the CF sure takes a long time to obtain. Been waiting a month for mine to even get to the "shipped" status.
Bolt-edge: Have you considered tapping the screw holes to a slightly larger screw type and then using the matching slight larger screws?
Not sure about how the electronics and such is done, but if there's enough space on the sides of the screw holes to allow for tapping, it might allow you to re-tighten it all. Heck, write to CF and see if they think it's possible to do so, you never know.

CF builds and tests theirs upon ordering. Blue Shark has mats sitting in boxes already slapped together. I've been waiting nearly a month as well. I emailed them and they said my mat would ship next week.
Due to the simplicity of the design and the fact that the contacts are made of sheet metal, id have to say a cobalt flux will last the longest. Mine has only broken once in the 3 years i'v had it and that wasnt even a pad problem, it was the control box.
The screw holes are so torn up that the screws dont even tighten anymore. They just fall in. The holes are completely cylindrical now and have expanded to like 110% of their original size.
Did you try the wood glue and toothpicks trick? It would also work with Gorilla Glue and probably be more sturdy.
You just fill the hole with the glue and then drill a new hole.
It's only $30, and it's good quality. Though, if you play it on a non-carpeted floor, it'll slide a lot. It also doesn't have any way to hook up to a computer, unfortunately.
Also, one time I saw a metal pad get absolutely destroyed after being played on for an entire weekend at an anime convention. People were playing 10-12 footers all day, each day...and by the end of the last day the pad stopped working.
