Default Looking back at what Konami threw away.

For years, I've always thought about all the preliminary stuff that is seen in both test versions of AC DDR games and also pre-release builds of the CS games. I think we should gather up all known information (and possibly add to the wiki.)

The 2 CS games that baffle me the most are ULTRAMIX and EXTREME US, simply from all of the preliminary screens.

Ultramix:

Biggest things to note are: Interface, icons at top left, the "sections" inside the arrows are transparent, real-time grading, 2 combo counters...and AUTOPLAY(!!) on the 2nd picture.

Also all of those characters were scrapped.

EXTREME US:

*sigh* It was SUPPOSED to be this way...and we all know ONE of those songs was cut (and it shoulda been in the previous game anyways.)

Marvelous in regular gameplay (missing in Final...also w/o the double L crap). Also kanji removed from difficulty bar, and the font was fucked around with just like in DDRMAX2.

We didn't even get any of these characters in the final product... ;_;

Also I know that plenty of games have had songs in them that were cut or removed around...(everything from 1st Mix to SuperNOVA.)

Ok, so, anyone know of any other things that have been scrapped in DDR games?

It makes me so sad to look at the original Extreme US interface and think of how much better it would have made the game. The interface seems to make or break a game for me.

Those Ultramix screenshots, while interesting to look at, look really shitty and I like what they ended up doing in UM1 better.

Anyway, I don't know a large amount about what songs were cut from each version, but I'll post what I do know.

1st AC - there was a song from dancemania (jump! is what i seem to remember? i'm not sure though) that was cut and only in the test location

Extreme AC - i've heard before that "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" by Captain Jack was on the test location verison

SuperNOVA AC - Kind Lady Interlude was in beta screenshots and maybe at the test location, but I've never seen it in game

7th JP CS - It's Raining Men, There You'll Be, More Than I Needed To Know, and A Minute don't appear in the songlist like the AC counterpart. I haven't looked into the game to see if samples exist of the songs in the 7th JP audio files.

Extreme JP CS - Senorita (Speedy Mix), It's Raining Men, There You'll Be, More Than I Needed To Know, and A Minute all have samples in the sound data but do not appear in game.

Extreme US CS - Sweet Sweet <3 Magic was cut. I think I remember there being three other samples of cut songs in Extreme US CS, but I don't remember what they were.

yeah jump was on one of the location tests if i remember correctly; boys was too but it came back for 2nd mix like les said

also money by ragga twins was on 1st

i remember a while ago seeing a screenshot of ddrmax that had an INSANE groove radar for nori nori nori but i have no idea where i'd find it now

supernova CS has "me against the music" referenced in it and i think it might have the song too? i don't remember for sure

Because nobody's come across a location test version of DDR 1st to rip the banner, background, music, and steps

Might as well link to Maxx's "unused graphics" section.

I like the main menu video.

" Baby baby ... give it to me, give it me baby"

The one from DDR EX2 and DDR SN 2 blows...

This is news. I figured they just very luckily stumbled upon a 1st Beta.

Also, we DID get MONEY, later on...It's called "MAKE IT BETTER".

Among the unused graphics from MAX, I've complained many times for this special one:

Seems that Long Versions were planned for DDRMAX, but for unknown reasons the idea was scrapped...

What's even funnier, is that the "it's the looong version!" announcer has been in the CS games up to SuperNOVA O.o
