Metal Pad-Moving from Hard floor to Carpet

So, I normally play on a nice, hard floor with my trusty TX-1000 clone when I'm at school. Well, I'm at home on spring break now, and we have this pesky carpet. While I appreciate the whole warmth thing, and reducing echo, I dislike how it's negatively affecting my DDRin' skills.

I'm getting a ton more greats and misses, thanks to just how weird it feels compared to the floor at school. Do you guys have this problem, too, and any suggestions as to how to remedy this?

It sounds like the Carpet is absorbing the shock, making you work harder to get back up off the pad, it shouldn't be that big of a difference though, perhaps try and play with a bit more spring, or put something hard underneath the pad, I'm not sure how well that will work, because I've never done it, but it sounds like your only real option.

Prehaps moving to a hardwood floor, or something, because Mine works just fine[with something hard under it]

Try making a plywood base with rubber feet on the corners, so that they dig into the carpet. I did this with my CF, and it feels the same as playing on the hardwood floor at my friend's house.
