I found this forum via google. glad to know there are people still playing these games. I'm usualy late in the game so figured it would be a thing of the past and wow was I wrong.
I appreciate all who have taken the time to do reviews also. The reason I've been searching is that I wanted to know what was available as far as dance pads, because the plastic one I got with DDR Extreme is causing me some issues.
I have some questions regarding pads, and the games in general.
From the reviews, and based on price, I am interested in buying the Cobalt Flux.
It is my understanding from what I've read here and there that the Red Octane Ignition is a good pad as far as non-metal goes.
The reason the CF is attractive is the following:
1) I'm currently 270lbs
2) I have worked up to playing about an hour a day (this is beginning to affect #1 on this list, which is the idea)
3) I'm having a lot of issues with clockwise drift as well as feeling the pad. I've gone as far as putting some sticky velcro squares on the arrows, but the plastic is wrinkled so bad I still can't feel the things.
4) I live in an older house, and as I have become more active with the game, I'm starting to feel the variations in the floor boards under the carpet (did I mention my house was *old*?)
From what I have read, the CF can handle the weight and use, and doesn't drift.
The questions:
-What changes should I expect when moving to something like the CF from a low end pad?
-Can I use the CF barefoot, or is it set up such that "feeling" my way around the pad won't be an issue?
-I have a PS2 and the only game I have is DDR Extreme, does it matter what other DDR games I buy, or are they all the same with different music?
-The "workout mode" in DDR Extreme is nice, but what sort of movement do they assume you are making?
-What on freakin' Earth are all the numbers and terms and acronyms I'm seeing in the threads here?

What is the difference between 3.0 and 4.0? game type? Do I need to be concerned if the CF pad will work with all the games?
Sorry to be so long winded, but I've been on my own for a while here. I'm still searching the forum for threads on actual movement techniques if anyone has a link they are willing to throw me, it would be appreciated also.
Thanks.
