Marketplace Rating: 2 | I remember this one time way back when my friends and i were obsessed with konamix we were playing in my buddys garage and it started pouring and water started seeping in but we refused to stop and the pad got soaked and shorted out. But it didn't matter cause in those days you could pay an extra like $10 to be able to return a busted pad for a brand new one- no questions asked.

The reason why I was up so late because I was jealous of my friend (the enemy mentioned above) who knocked me out of the #1 position for the Nonstop course. So I got the scissors and cut the connection between the pads and I tried smashing the screen with the hammer but I figured it would be too loud and plus there were security folks roaming around. At the end I just took the power cord from the machine so that it will be out of commission. Everything went well, but then the machine got fixed and my enemy friend was #1 again. Good times. | I'm sorry, please please please please please stop playing arcade games. You don't have any respect for property and you really should just be preemptively banned from every arcade in your area for doing such stupid shit. If I saw someone going to smash the shit out of my local machine you'd bet I'd call the cops on them.

I was big into Bust A Groove at the time and when I saw all the DDR characters on the magazine cover, I assumed DDR would be similar. So I went to gamestop and picked up DDR U.S. and was surprised it came with it's own special controller. Took it home, and had the time of my life.
My greatest memories come from a short lived arcade that had 3rd mix. My friends and I would go there all the time and usually had the arcade to ourselves. It was a small town, not many gamers..let alone DDR players.

Marketplace Rating: 13 | I remember the first time I played, I was trying to get used to the pads not being positioned diagonally, and I kept missing the arrows. Sounds weird, but I'd played pump for over a year and never touched DDR.
So my first song, I try on a DDR USA cab. I think it was Silent Hill (I didn't really listen to the preview, I thought it had something to do with the horror game), and I put it on whatever Light mode was called on that mix. Some asshole Asian dude announced "TOO EASY," and told me that I sucked and I needed to get off. I flipped him off and kept going.
Once I got used to the positioning of the arrows, I was beating the guy by the end of the day on the Extreme machine next to it pretty consistently. It was fun times.

I used to wait 45 minutes between games just to play. Now, if I can't get 2 games in a half an hour, I get pissy
I remember one Friday night where I was playing and there was literally a crowd of people around me and someone else and we were just playing light mode. The energy and thrill really made the arcade come alive. Now I will go through all the 9 footers on doubles and yawn because nothing interests me any more. It's not that DDR isn't fun, I've just almost done everything I've cared to do. The first 2 years was a learning experience and I was constantly getting better. Trying to pass my first 9 footer, HVAM, exotic ethnic, Max 300, Unlimited, Survivor, etc. What is there now? Oh well.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | My fondest DDR memory is when I got 2nd Mix for my import Dreamcast and one $40 third party crappy soft mat long ago.
My two friends from high school came over and I played in front of them. I got two goods on Captain Jack basic and we were all like holy sh**! I'm certain that nothing will surpass the nerdgasm boiling in my loins after that happened.
