I remember when i started playing when all the local school people ( which i was one of ) all took turns at laughing at you for playing a silly dance game. this was back when we had dancing stage ( DDR 1.5) a glorious 12 songs and BS codes to unlock maniac what has now become heavy. I enjoyed getting picked on because of it as i would just say. " hey wanna challenge me," this solved any further bullying as a result.

On the same page I finished high school that year and never looked back. all my friends now stem from the bemani community and not the jerks and tools I went to school with. I always admired how DDR has brought fellow gamers closer.

I started playing DDR at our local Boys and Girls Club. I've been playing for three years now and I'm a Challenged player. I always get grades of AAA and full combos sometimes. I'm up for challenges.

I have tons of great memories from tournaments and stuff. But one of my favorite old-school memories was when I got "too good" to keep playing on the default Konami soft pads, so I cut out a plywood base, put some cardboard on top of it to act as a thin cushion, then stapled my softpad on top of that Duct-tape the edges and viola! My first hard pad. Those things worked out so well it was ridiculous.

If that were true nobody would play arcade ddr and it would have died off a long time ago.

Dude, I knew a guy who used to do that. IIRC he would also take off his shirt and swing it in the air.

Nah, I wore socks. I put the cardboard in-between the plywood base and the soft pad. It doesn't sound like much, but that thin layer of cardboard really helps out with the feet.

i got into it while watching someone play Tsugaru Heavy and so i tried playing light mode and did suprisingly well. i then bought my own copy of DDR Max 2 and a foam mat for my PS2 and 4 1/2 years later, here i am. i was 11 when i started playing. now im 15, and i mostly do AC only, except for now i have my blueshark and some other ASCs. more of a fan to ITG just because the machines seem to be more babied and for custom songs. too bad i started playing ITG for the first time in november 2006, one month after they were sued.

playing DDR got me into other bemanis, but i didnt start playing other bemani till last febuary. i was totally oblivious that DMGF, IIDX, and Popn had anything to do with DDR until febuary when i bought a DJDAO

basically i started playing right before DDR started to suck. 8th mix is the last AC mix that will ever be good.

How does buying a dj dao controller make you realize the connection between ddr and other bemani games?

You've obviously never played SuperNOVA2.

In my honest opinion, I can't choose which is better out of Extreme, Supernova, and Supernova 2. If I start playing one, I'll play it for weeks and will be addicted to it without switching to the next.

I remember the first time I played DDR. I was at my uncle's house. Since we played 3 hours of Karaoke Revolution [[ 1, 2, & 3]] We got bored and my uncle introduced me and my mom to DDR. I was 9...10 about that time. Even though I failed the first couple of stages. I wanted the game for myself so I got DDR Extreme [[ USA Version ]] and a cheap Mad Catz soft pad. And I remember playing it very day during the summer and every day when I got back home from school.

Then I got Supernova and stop playing for a year. ]: And then started back up when it was the end of 6th Grade. My memories aren't that interesting. XD
