Default Pad issues...

So my metal knockoff pad always worked perfectly up until recently. I started playing X2 and played a couple of songs and high AA FCed them even though I hadnt played in a while. Then I started to play Taking it to the Sky and all of a sudden, the down arrow just started not responding. It would hit 20% of the time. After a while, it got worse and pretty much the only way to get it to register is to jump with both feet near the center and even then its a 50/50 chance. Does anyone know how to fix this? I know its something wrong with the sensor but I have no idea what it is.

Heres a pic of the pad

And a pic of the bottom arrow sensor

And just for good measure, a pic of the right arrow sensor (which works fine)

Its a very easy fix most of the time. Just try re-soldering the wires to the censor on the correct tracer. That usually fixes the problem. It also may help to put some extra foil on the underside of the panel.

Whoa whoa slow down. I have no soldering experience nor do I know what a tracer is. Does it require lifting the sensor up? Because its pretty stuck in down there.

Have you cleaned off your sensor? I have a pad that uses pressure-switch sensors, just like yours, and cleaning it can fix that.

Now would be a time to learn how to solder. This was my first experience at soldering too. A Tracer is one of the lines that the wire is soldered to. Trust me its not hard to solder the sire back on at all. If you need to see how they are soldered to the sensor open up one of the other working panels and peel off the black tape that protects the wiring and get a visual.

Soldering is a very useful skill to have. You never know when It will come in handy and it has many applications. The first time I soldered anything was when I made my own ddr platform and I've used those skills to fix things like guitar wiring problems. Definitely give it a shot.

Ok so now I have to buy a soldering iron but am I going to have to take the whole sensor off the pad or do I just peel off the black tape at the corner and work from there?

I took off the black tape and there doesnt seem to be any wires or anything, hell its the same thing as the right arrow with the tape removed. There seem to be wires under but I have no way to remove the sensor without breaking it or something.

Here's a pic:

EDIT: After putting the pad back together, the pad now seemingly works perfectly. I dont know how, all I did was remove the tape and put it back on but it works fine now. Im pretty baffled by this.

^ That looks very interesting because I see two soldered joints in that picture. However the picture is to blurry to see any wiring. You know you can lift up the sensors right? There is plenty of wiring that goes around inside the pad-or at least there should be. Also the wiring comes out from under the pad right under the censor typically, so you would not see it unless you lifted the sensor up.

Its strange that your pad started working randomly. It might not last for very long as mine did that many times the first few times I opened it.

Also I will make a video showing anyone how to fix these types of pads very soon. I will show you what you need to solder, and how to mod it so it works flawlessly.

The thing about lifting the sensors is that theyre pretty firmly placed there. I feel like ill break it by lifting it off. Are there screws or anything im supposed to remove? And yeah the pics are pretty blurry since theyre from a dsi.

If I dont get around to making the video today I will make the video Saturday, and upload it then.

I will also point out how to mod it in a way where it becomes pretty damn sensitive in the way that you would expect it to be.

Ok So the video is made however its around 14 minutes... So is there any way I can go around youtubes restrictions and upload a video longer then 10 minutes? I used to be able to do it with the bulk uploader but they caught on and it wont let me. Anyone know another way?

I wish someone would put a video of how to clean CF pads. >> I don't want to do something wrong since mine probably need to be cleaned. ><
