Default PCB question

ok so I recently bought a Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix Plus Upgrade kit for $20. But I dont have a machine to run it on, so I was thinking about buying a PCB to throw the upgrade onto, and moding parts to run off of it. I know you can at least get speakers, and a monitor running off of it, but do you think its possible to mod normal PS2 dance pads, or something to run on it to?

If not... well I am going to be holding onto that upgrade kit for a while huh?

Possible?...

ps2 dance pads, no

if you can cut the wire of a metal pad before it hits the control box, it's possible to wire in, but i don't know how

ok so it sounds possible huh? Wow that great news, I thought it would not be possible. I may try that once I find the PCB.

I still think that $20.00 was a great deal for a upgrade, no matter the version, so I could not say no, you know?

What do you have? Post pictures.

The Full System 573?

Yeah you can if you have that. You have to make a supergun, take your pads and rewire them for jamma, then hook stuff up.

EDIT: Oh you have to find the PCB.

LOL!

Another reason why you're an idiot.

gee thanks...

I was not going to even bother finding one, but now that I found out its possible I might. There are always some that pop up on ebay (not often but they do). I will have to keep an eye out for one. I also contacted a place about a machine with no game installed.

Know what your doing way before hand.

I studied around a year before I bought my Neo Geo because I didn't want to fuck it up.

You're most likely not to find a system 573 on ebay thats not attached to a machine, and to do all this work just to play 3rd mix? Not worth it. Just keep to your local arcade. I would just keep this for collection purposes.

Also, I'm 50/50 on if a machine can downgrade or not.

Ya, it sounded kind of stupid, but it was just a question. I am thinking about just holding onto the upgrade, and just have the dignity of knowing I own the game, not playing it. I cant really do much on a 3rd Mix plus anyways...

Um, are you sure you have an upgrade KIT or just the cart/chip/CD? Those alone does not an upgrade make. If they're used, they're useless, which is usually why you can find "kits" for that cheap.

Not really. It's like saying I own a DDR USA, Dreams Come True, or a 3rd Mix upgrade kit, except it can't upgrade shi+ except on the original machines they were in. Did you buy it on eBay or something?

yep. I probably should have researched a bit.

I did not pay for it yet though. I could tell him I am no longer interested or something, and see if he will wave it.

IIRC, yes they can.

Actually, 573 units do come up on e-bay - some as buy-it-now and hell expensive (EXTREME comes up quite often, 5th mix sometimes), and some that quickly go up in price. (like 5th Mix, Extreme, MAX2, 3rd Mix) Recently saw a 5th Mix PCB go from $20 to $155 + in 3 days, with 3 days left.

Odds are the upgrade kits that are sold on e-bay are bootleg kits. Those go fairly often on e-bay.

As to whether or not it is worth it: I personally think it is, if only I could not get outbid on a 573 unit.

I'm attempting the same thing, with the only problem so far being that of locating and finding a System573 unit without bankrupting myself. This idea has been done before too might I add, I recall seeing a video I think on Youtube with an EXTREME PCB hooked up to a rewired CF, and modified with a RGB to S-VIDEO adapter so you can use it with a normal television.

It is doable, but a pain in the ass not doing the adapting and rewiring but rather, it seems, finding the damn unit.
