Default Progressive Scan with PS2 DDR games

I know some of you know this, but DDR X US can output in progressive scan mode (480p) if you have component video cables (the red/blue/green one, not the red/yellow/white one).

I also know some of you know that you can have DDR X JP and DDR SuperNOVA2 JP output in progressive scan mode by holding triangle and x when the games start up.

If you didn't know yet, the games look fantastic in 480p. Especially because the games with progressive scan also have adjustments for both the timing and the arrow sync, so you can adjust for both audio and video lag on HDTVs.

Most importantly, what I didn't know until recently is that DDR SuperNOVA JP also outputs in 480p. Why was I not aware of this earlier?? The game looks better than it did on the arcade machine I used to play on! I really can't describe how clear and bright it looks compared to the non-480p games. If you have DDR and you're not playing on component cables, you need to get some. Right now.

Progressive scan in DDR X (US)

But yes, this is excellent for those with HDTVs. I haven't tried it much since I haven't played serious DDR in months (too busy with IIDX), but there is a dramatic difference in clarity.

Now if only it supported widescreen...

Yeah, most people know about it already, but I'd never heard of SuperNOVA being capable of it. And if I wish I knew it earlier, then someone else will want to know too.

X2 supports it. I couldn't get the Triangle X to work but it's in the Settings menu under Display -> Video Output.

Looks neat but really wish it supported Widescreen

I guess they changed the way to do it on X2 since konami knows you only play on THEIR softpads and they don't have a triangle button.

I was freaking out at first when I couldn't get it to work that way either.

Yes, it is.

And I'm glad for X2 they moved it to the options, because it's a pain to stand on triangle and x every time you start the game. I forget sometimes and have to reset. D:

I've been wondering if the progressive scan made much of a difference, and this thread pretty much convinced me to buy component cables for the PS2.

I wonder why Konami wouldn't document a good feature like this until X2.
