Isn't she just a poorly re-colored SN Emi?

The ones that look like batteries are annoying to look at. Otherwise they're fine. (haven't played a lot of DDR, so don't knock me for misunderstandings)

Hey, that's what I think about the dancers too, most of them look like Lego Men. And their dance moves sort of resemble Lego Men too. (Or robots)

...but not all the dancers, like you said.

I think he was specifically referring to the robots...

They aren't needed in DDR MAX through Extreme, because they had some great background videos. When SuperNOVA came out they were necessary because they only had those generic backgrounds except for a few songs with the IIDX or GFdm vids.

I seem to pass it just fine with any random character....

I guess it all depends on how bad one's A.D.D. is.

And remember, the BG videos took away the characters first.

I really prefer that the dancers are in there.

Especially with the renewed graphics of the PS2 (compared to PS1-based arcade hardware), you can really see the improvements they've did to SN.

I do admit that I've always had fun watch Emi whenever I'm looking at other people play or like when I'm done playing and I observe other people play or something.

At times, I find it even more fun to watch Emi dance on the screen rather than to look at a stepchart.

That's just me though

But you can only watch Emi's routine about 4 times before it gets boring. Gotta love choreographic loopage.

I dunno...but for me it's probably more than that

If it's not only for the routine though, then it must probably be something else.

Anyways for me, it's Emi FTW on Supernova (unless they release Alice for SN2)

my favourite character from back when is Izam, but for SuperNOVA my favourite dancer is between Jenny, Rage, and Baby-Lon.

I've never actually seen a dancer in action. In the arcade (EuroMix2 and DS:SN) I don't know how to select them, that's if they can be selected. At home I started out with Mariomix (shutup stop laughing) and having Mario jumping about in the background didn't really affect me one way or the other. He wasn't a character on a pad though, he was more like FMV as far as I could tell. Or is there effectively no difference?

I don't have any characters in Stepmania either but I did install some BGM movies, just basic like visualisation stuff, because some of the simfiles I have don't have any graphics at all and I don't like the dull Stepmania background image. THAT actually distracts me, whereas the big sparkly FMV in Xepher doesn't... it's pretty weird. But in my experience what's going on in the background has usually been incidental to the arrows.

apparently, ADD (and ADHD) have no bearing, since I have ADHD and not ONCE has a Dancer made me make a mistake.

On SM the reasons are these:

#1 - uselessly wasted data.
#2 - the dancers look horrible.
#3 - they block the background that is intended to be there.

On DDR the reasons are these:

#1 - it is a lame excuse not to make background videos anymore.
#2 - some of the dancers destract players with slight vision problems.
#3 - you never end up with a dancer that matches the song. (select one? What have the same thing in the background for every song? BLECHK)

On BOTH OF THEM this reason applies:

#1 - the dancers pattern does not match ANY music, EVER.
