The only reason I think the stops are there is to make sure you cant pass the song the first couple of times you play it.

At least the stops in Saber Wing make sense after a while.
Another stop that makes no sense that comes to mind is the one in On The Break, because it throws you off and nearly makes you fail the song if you aren't prepared for it.

I haven't played SN2 or X yet (yeah, I sort of lost interest in DDR) so I can't comment on those

but FAXX and Chaos were so ridiculous and most of their difficulty comes in the gimmicky stops, so yes, I'd say they're annoying.

Stops are cool if they're done right (Injection of Love), stupid if they're done just because (The Whistle Song), and annoying if they're stupid and gimmicky

Speedups/slowdowns can be really cool if they're used right (can't think of any DDR examples off the top of my head but I liked the speedups in Miracle in PNM 7 CS)

the stop in the whistle song makes sense and is amusing, it's just weird to time

the speedup in burnin the floor (momo mix) is cool

the speedups in pluto relinquish are cool but hard to read, haha

I find it at first annoying, but if you think about it, they normally are the only boss songs I can beat. (Pluto and Chaos)

Also, I've noticed that there is a new speed chance. It happens at the beginning of Pluto Relinquish and in the middle of Saber Wing. I know Saber Wing doesn't go to 800bpm so I don't get it there what happens?

as long as the stops and speed ups make sense then they're fine. Most complete stops would only be a problem for the first time you play it, which then i agree is annoying, but eventually you get used to it so it stops being so annoying o.o;

Correct me if i'm wrong but I think every single AC 10fter (minus bag and Xepher) has at least 2 bpm changes/stops throughout the song.

confirm/deny?

The pauses and BPM changes in Pluto fit with the music perfectly. The ones in Trigger, not so much.

Yes, the correct song would have been "Chaos".

The ones in Giri Gili are hilarious.

Flow(Ragga Mix)'s are just stupid.

I've always liked the tempo shifts in Seduction(the instrumental one).

Personally, I've only encountered Chaos on basic (thankfully the SN1 machine we had here had that song unlocked).

I obviously couldn't get through much as I didn't know when the stops/pauses would occur.

And it's kinda tough cause that machine is set to level 6/HARD.
