Default SuperNOVA Discussion (Arcade, PS2) pt. 2 (NOW WITH DEFAULT PS2 SONGLIST)

Thread-ghey this topic and die. Leave your drama for the PM's, not in public. No one really care what you think of each other.

Important posts from Reenee:

PLEASE DO NOT ASK ABOUT WHERE THE NEAREST SUPERNOVA LOCATION IS FOR YOU IN THIS THREAD. GO INTO YOUR APPROPRIATE REGIONAL FORUM AND ASK THERE. THANK YOU.

DDR SuperNOVA was to be released on June 15th but Betson had e-mailed various users in response to this at DDRFreak that the game was being delayed two weeks for some additional "fixing".

(Append by BakaOrochi)
A patch for SuperNOVA has been announced by Konami, presumably it fixes bug and syncing issues, so STOP MAKING POSTS THAT SOLELY STATE HOW BAD THE SYNCING PROBLEMS ARE. We already know.

ARCADE VERSION:
Songlist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_D...NOVA_song_list (compiled from various player accounts posted at DDRUK and DDRFreak)

Features:
  • More than 300 songs available.
  • Internet ranking (opens this Summer)
  • e-Amuse (Japan only)
  • Single, Versus, Double, and Battle modes
  • Narrated Tutorial Mode (by Scotty D.)
  • Nonstop and Challenge modes
Feel free to share any information or criticism or comments about the game.

Updated information from the Playstation 2 CS version from Fletcher:

Quote:
Just got back from day one of SDCC and played a few rounds on the SN/Universe demos. Universe I'll go into more depth tomorrow, since I mostly stuck to SN today (and then the crowds kicked in and I couldn't stand seeing Doll/Xepher whored out OVER AND OVER AGAIN so I left.) Here's what I've got for you, with pictures (since I forgot my camera... doh) and full song lists of the demos coming tomorrow (although I can guarantee that in NO WAY are these going to be the default lists on either game. Too damn small.)

Each player got two songs each before it went to a "Coming Soon!/Features" screen and tossed you off. All we got on the MAIN menu was a list of things similar in content (but not appearance) to Extreme 2, with the only two things you could select being Game Mode and Advanced Mode (ie, Battle Mode, since all other options in Advanced were marked "Under Construction".) There were about twelve songs, all licenses and crossovers, if I remember correctly. I won't post song titles at the moment, given that I'll have that info tomorrow (and I can only remember a few off the top of my head), but I will note that RED ZONE wasn't among them.

The interface, aside from the new graphics (looks exactly like the arcade version does, no surprise there), controls exactly like Extreme 2. In fact, there was even a Dance Point(?) counter at the bottom of the screen next to score responding exactly like Ex2's did (I watched all difficulties played, it was perfectly replicated.) Mission Mode appears to be back, as does the Shop, the former was on the menu (but unchooseable) as Stellar Master, the latter as "Shop", unsurprisingly.

Solo (now Rainbow) is selectable again, as is Note. This made me happy. And an odd note (although again, early build): despite the title screen saying "Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA", the difficulties were all using their European names.

And finally, the version that is in arcades IS THE FINAL VERSION.

Is NOVA media likely to show up in the Bemanistyle shop when it's ripped? Strange way to start the topic, but just asking.

New song might be that Riyu song.

I find it interesting on the old thread someone said that arcades would need to update or something. Does this means Konami will release another way to patch the game without an Internet connection?

So! Camera stolen, but given that the SDCC build seems to be the E3 build too, you're not missing many images (only one I was going to post from the DDR trials was the title screen and menu, anyway.)

That songlist at the top of the topic? Aside from a single change (no Graduation, but we did have Star Gate Heaven by SySF), that would be the entirety of the demo. Game seemed to be on-beat, so no worries in that department (although both the SN and the Universe demos were glitchy at times, so there were one or two little screwups in it). Battle Mode has been implemented, and it works well even on a PS2.

There were quite a few Challenge charts in this demo, oddly enough (Let's Dance, for instance, is a real bitch to play on Challenge... as of the end of the weekend, it was still listed as an E on the max score. This might have been due to the fantastic "let's make people play in socks on a thin pad covered in a plastic sheet" decision, though. Most harder songs didn't get cleared.) Most of them are pretty fun to play, so no worries here.

I am continuing to update that with new videos of stepcharts for you all. I just put up 3 more, didn't put any during the weekend since I was out of town.

My bet is that this new song is going to be some sort of boss song. I'm seeing MAX.(period) - but then again, that should have made the MAX challenge course.

Perhaps it's a contest song. Whatever it is, I'm hoping it's got a fun chart.

And since I got to play the damn game, here is my opinion.

New songs are cool enough. Loved Curus, Chikara, DoLL, Xepher... My favorite so far is AA, though. I don't know why, but that chart just makes me want to learn it inside and out. I did it about four times in an hour and a half...

That new Matsuri Japan mix thing, though... man did that chart make me want to launch a nuke at the machine. I had no idea what I was doing for that entire minute and a half. I got a B, but damn was I confused.

The new Max300 mix thing is fun. I didn't pass it, but I liked what I saw.

...and Sakura's banner looks really weird now, but the gameplay vid is very nice. I liked the stages with bgvideos better than the ones where I had to stare at dancing characters... but maybe Pump has spoiled me in that respect.

Personally, I can't wait to play again. But before that, can someone tell me how to access the modifiers menu? I couldn't figure it out to save my life. >_<

Before I forget, I believe this belongs in the first post, the build number for the version that is on all machines at the moment so that folks that find a new set-up can verify build numbers: FDH: U.A.A. 2006030300 (roughly translates as 3/3/2006, the same build featured in the ASI show in Chicago), which is found on the upper left-hand corner of the main screen. Also, just to provide proof that the memory card slots are a reality, Jason Enos, Product Manager for Konami, has confirmed it, most likely co-insiding with the anticipated arcade build update and/or upgrade kits that will be provided by Betson near that time as well, this is also verified by the trailer for the home version, debuted by Konami at E3 this year.

You think that's a long wait? PLAY.COM have just got Dancing Stage SuperNOVA in, scheduled for release February 2007!

Hold the green button after choosing the song. One millisecond where you let go will not allow you to go there, so make sure you hold it down until the mod sceen appears

OK, seriously let's not go through this again.

The build number is the same as ASI.

This does NOT mean the machines out there are betas.

So let's PLEASE stop talking about the build numbers.

Thank you for the link though.
