Is there a way to make a dance pad stop slipping?

I have one of the cheap ones ($20-30) and it keeps slipping. I don't want to buy the metal pads, so can anyone help me find a way to stop mine from slipping? ;-;

Weights or duct tape if you're on a hard floor, velcro on the undersides (use ONLY the female "hook" side of the velcro) if you're on a carpet.

i tried that and accidentally kicked it while playing on the mat. I don't really recommend that

Yeah, weights are an OPTION, but more like your last resort. Duct tape is higher on the list and velcro is king as it totally keeps the pad in place.

Agreed. Velcro is probably the best option. Duct tape works, but it has a tendency to slide around a tiny bit if you don't tape it down fully. I tried weights before, and they really don't work that well, especially if you accidentally hit them while playing.

Or you could use that heavy-duty method, taping and/or stapling it to a sheet of plywood. That would cost another five to ten bucks though.

That plywood would need to be heavy enough not to slide from your feet stepping at angles. And it's more likely to move on hard floors just as well.

Some mats come with circular pads that stick to the floor, although these only work on hard surfaces, and even then it's not too great.

You could try screwing the pad to a piece of wood,

when i use to play on a soft pad, i ran to walgreens one day and bought a ton of tape, and taped my pad to the floor (carpet flooring) and it worked okay, until the pad itself ripped.

Get a more expensive pad. Not metal, but foam pad. Don't slip as often.
Then again, my friends' is insanely taped down, and it works fine.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the simplest (and least-floor/pad damaging) method of all: non-slip padding. You know, the stuff you stick in RVs to keep anything from flying around while you drive. Check your local Target: a good-sized roll (as in, enough that you can comfortably replace the pad monthly and still have about a year's worth) is $10 or so.

You'll still have a little slippage on harder tracks (hello Boss Rush), but in 99% of the play sessions most people have, it'll keep movement below any discernable level in a song.

I used double sided duct tape, and it worked fine, never moved again.

i cut up a yoga mat, and glued it underneath my Cobalt Flux. works best on hardwood floor, but its okay for carpet too
