Default Timing and/ or lag on X?

So, yesterday, I played DDR for the first time in maybe a year, on an X machine in Arlington Texas. While the machine was amazing, I was getting very poor scores (one of which was a D...). Is there any timing difference between X and non-widescreen counterparts?

Maybe I'm just getting old, and arrows better than 30 fps are getting to my worn out eyes...

While there are timing issues, the bigger problem is in the pads. The pads are known to be a much, much lower quality than older machines.

You pay this much and yet the quality and worksmanship does not live up to its price tag

Ashura: A putt-putt near "the mall." Had House of the dead 4, GH arcade, ITG 2, and a mini- bowling alley. Can't tell you for sure where exactly- was visiting my girlfriend.

For everyone else: I don't stomp particularly hard, but a friend of mine who did once cracked an arrow in two trying to PA MAX 300. If these pads are this bad quality, I would assume something like this has already occurred.

Either that, or they have REALLY bad sensors. Time to do the business card mod?

The only sort of mod that will make it any more tolerable would be to rebuild the pads, as far as I am concerned.

You know its not going to be worth your time...

I would like to know what venue this Arlington machine is in.

I was told there is also one at Putt Putt in Hurst.

its both a lag issue and pad issue. Some arcades have, and did repair the pads, or fix them up a little (but it does not last long). But at the same time its the lag on the new display. If you go with the music you will find its synced correctly, however if you go with the exact timing of the arrows on the screen you will find its incorrect. Betson seems to be very aware of this issue, but they just dont seem to really care... Of course.

Ill try to find out the address/ and or directions. I haven't played in a while, but I'd be willing to meet ppl up and play.

If anything else, theres ITG 2 (I haven't ever played that, and liked some songs from 1)

Edit: a more than 1.5 hour drive might not be worth it. I could consistently get AA on 7 and most 8s, and I was getting B's on this. You have been notified.

Actually, as you'll see in what I posted in the DDR X Arcade discussion thread, Betson is almost completely UN-aware of the lag issue other than what they've heard from people.

Pretty sure the technician i talked with is the first betson employee to ever SEE the lag.

I am saying now they are very aware. I have e-mailed them... They already know. They have seen the lag when they came on location to Gameworks, now they know. What are they planning on doing...? Who knows, Its Betson were talking about.

Oh. I see. You sent them an e-mail. That means there is no possible way that Betson didn't get the message.

Makes perfect sense to me.

We could flood them with e-mails, they probably still won't quite get that they fucked up somewhere.

Hi, I'm Zach, also known as ZachATTACK!!.

I live in Fort Worth and I work for Putt Putt on Calmont.

As such, I played the DDR X cab at Putt Putt in Arlington the day that they got it.

The Putt Putt in Hurst also has a DDR X machine, and it's in the exact same condition.

Also, the ITG2 at Putt Putt Arlington has terrible pads.

Highest scores I got on the ITG2 machine there was a 89ish on Birdie and a 79 on agent blatant.

(my groovestats to compare my scores to the scores on that machine so you'll get an idea of how bad the pads are)
GrooveStats

If ANY of you are planning on making a trip to play DDR/ITG up here, there's only a handful of good locations.

FORT WORTH:

Main event has an ok ddr extreme (well, the right pad is good, left pad is terrible) and a Supernova in terrible condition with bad pads and an extremely dark screen. They also have a broken drummania (I believe, it may not be there anymore), a guitar freaks (never played it so I don't know the condition), and a beatmania III (5 key).

Putt Putt on Calmont (where I work) has a DDR Supernova with a perfect right pad (this was recently fixed) and an alright left pad (the left arrow sucks).

Bloo Kangaroo in Ridgmar Mall has an ITG 2 dedicab (hacked by me to include ITG3...it would have a different hack list, but unfortunately conflicts with the owners prevent me or anyone else from ever hacking it again), however the ITG2 is an R1 so keep that in mind. However, the pads are perfect on each side.
Bloo Kangaroo also has a DDR Extreme with perfect pads on each side.

ARLINGTON:
Putt Putt on Pleasant View has a DDR X dedicab, complete with shitty pads and laggy monitor! also has an ITG 2 with terrible pads as well.

Dave and Busters has a Super Nova 2 dedicab that's in pretty good condition (at least it was when I was there)

HURST:
Putt Putt Hurst off of pipeline and glenview (I think, might be pipeview and glenline...) has a DDR X dedicab as well (also with shitty pads and a laggy monitor) back to back with a DDR Extreme.
The right pad on the ddr extreme in Putt Putt Hurst is GOOD. The left is terrible (one of the worst pads ever). HOWEVER, there is no bracket holding the pads together, and the right pad is missing a caster which means it moves...a lot. Like soft pad a lot (especially on harder 9's and 10's)

GRAPEVINE:
Gameworks at Grapevine Mills Mall has a guitar freaks in good condition and a DDR Extreme that used to be in pristine condition (last time I was there it was), however recent reports from players there say it sucks now.
Gameworks also has a Supernova 2 dedicab...and it's terrible.

DALLAS:

There's malibu speedzone (never been so I can't comment)
There's adventure landing (also never been so I can't comment)
There's Plano bowl (never been....)
And then there's the UTD student Union facility (they have a DDR Extreme) (Never been there either btw)

PLANO:

Whirlyball/Laserwhirl'd has an ITG2 dedicab R23 uber hacked with good pads.

AND THAT'S ALL I KNOW.

BTW, speaking of DFW players, if any of you want to meet up sometime pm me and I'll see what I can do.
