Default Ultramix offset help

I recently got two of the Xbox mixes, DDR Ultramix and Ultramix 2. One of the first things I noticed is that the sync is off, making the steps feel "mushy" and hard to follow. I have been fiddling with the UM2 offset option, but I haven't been able to get it right on. So, those of you who have dealt with this, what offset setting have you been using?

While I'm at it... I've found that, even after I turned off the ABXY buttons, the game dumps lots of my jumps. No single steps, and the pad works perfectly well on the PS2. (It's an Ignition 2.0.) The problem is much worse when the jumps are mixed in with single steps, but it'll sometimes register jumps separated by a quarter or half beat as misses. Can anyone offer suggestions on how to deal with this, if it is a software issue?

(Those whose answer is to use a Cobalt Flux instead, feel free to PM me for my shipping address so you can have one sent to me.)

I don't know what my offsets are right off hand, but I don't think they're very far from zero. As for your jumps, that's an unfortunate feature of the earlier Ultramixes. Jump timing is very strict. On other DDR games, if you have a slight gallop in landing a jump, it'll still give it to you. For UM and UM2, if you aren't spot on landing both feet at the same time, it won't register the jump at all, and you get a miss. It sucks, but for this one a better pad won't really make much of a difference. If you land with any offset, you're toast.

Is that what keeps hosing my jumps? I thought that for some reason the ABXY buttons were firing on jumps and not on steps. It makes more sense that a slight gallop is the culprit, as the more fast & furious the steps get the more I miss. Has this (and/or the mushy sync) been corrected in Ultramix 3?

UM1 sucks because the frame skipping and some other little things.
UM2 its a very nice mix, and i feel all the steps ok , but maybe you feel them a little offsync because the jumps are very strict.
UM3 corrects most of the problems of the past 2 games (mostly the jump thing).

Let me recommend you something:
Sell UM1, play alot UM2.When you like to play DDR on Xbox get UM3.

And sorry for my shytty english

If you own a PS2 I highly suggest getting Extreme+Extreme 2. They are nice games.. and pretty fun for a while.

NeoIvAn - it's good to know that UM3 fixes glitches from 1 & 2. If it didn't I'd feel like visiting Konami of Hawaii to "Hit 'n' Slap" some sense into them. I'd sell UM1 if I could find someone I wouldn't feel guilty foisting it off on. Oh well, at least I didn't pay much for it. As for the jumps, I think they're much too strict. Even when I'm consciously trying to make sure I don't gallop, I still get misses. Arrgh.

//TRANCE - I do have a PS2 and all 4 DDR mixes, plus PIU and ITG. (And Urban Dance Uprising, but I found that bloody unplayable.) I've danced those songs into the ground, which is why I've wandered into the Xbox realm.

Man, I wish there was a legal way to copy song data onto the Xbox HD and play it with later, debugged mixes, sort of like a make-your-own-songpack. No, I'm not asking for hacking tips; I know that's considered Not Nice. But I wish I could do it anyway.

Im ganna tell you what ive been telling alot of people lately and this is going to surprise you. If theres a walmart near you (cause thats were I got mine) Check out the Pelican Dance pad thats universal for the Xbox,ps2 and cube. Its the best dance pad by far to use for xbox because its on sync. It goes for about $20 at walmart. Its really worth it for the ultramix games.

(Dont get DDR Extream1 for the PS2 that is by far the worst DDR game ive ever played, all the good songs had to be unlocked I just thought it was a horrible game overall compared to the others.)

NO. The only best soft mat pad is the official Konami one.

i tried tweaking my UM2 and UM3 timing so much, but i could never get it to PS2 or Stepmania quality (with my cobalt flux). Ironically, my less skilled girlfriend finds it easier and better on the default UM timing than anything else...
