I was thinking about building a pad converter out of some Mad Catz pads (MC because they're cheap). I don't really have room for 2 sets (PS2 and 360) so I thought it might be a good idea to use the Mad Catz guts to build a breakout box that I could connect my PS2 pads to. I'd do it by putting a DB-15 cable on the old pads that connects the sensors directly to the pcb from the Mad Catz ones.
My questions are:
1. Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work? I'm going under the assumption that all the sensors for these things use basically the same technology.
2. Where's a good place to get cheap pads? Damaged is fine (preferable, even), as long as the PCB is working.
It shouldn't be hard at all. Most PCB's are marked with the button each terminal corresponds to. If it's cheaper, you can use some RJ-45 connectors (a.k.a. ethernet jacks) since they're pretty easy to connect and disconnect on a whim.
