oh wow i just stumbled upon this thread, but id be so excited to see an arcade replica of a metal pad!! i remember seeing a konami one a loooong time ago, but they were like 1800, and i only saw a few.
i FULLY support to have a pad replica of the ITG2 dedicab. all the way down to the thickness and quality. idc how much this thing would cost i would totally buy it. the ONLY reason i dont play ITG at home is because i dont like any of the pads out there.
soft pads just SUCK, as im sure everyone can agree, and all the metal pads feel weird.
cobalt flux pads were completely flat, so you couldnt feel where you were. their add on to make the arrows recessed was too steep. hitting the arrows, the arrow didnt deepin at all, so you couldnt tell if you actually hit it.
redoctanes looked ok, but they feel strange. it feels like a cheaper build. ive never tried anything else because i cant find valid feedback on if they are worth it.
ive seen pads out on the interwebz for $1900, yet no videos of someone trying one. also i saw that the non-arrow panels were actually recessed rather than the arrows :/.
the ONLY pad i feel comfortable playing on is an ITG2 dedicab pad. the only thing ive done, is mod the arrows so their not as recessed.
all-in-all, like everyone is saying, MAKE AN EXACT REPLICA OF THE ITG2 DEDICAB PAD. yeah, make 2 versions, one like a lesser quality perhaps, for the beginners. that they arent going to be rough on it. maybe even throw a soft pad in there.
if you can make a soft pad thats not going to slide you all over the room when u play, you'll win there alone.
lastly, alongside with making an exact replica, that does also mean to include the corresponding bar. down to the same height. you could maybe tweak the design of the "R" shape for the bar. maybe be creative, add more designs or more 'bar' to add on weight.
i will try to keep an eye on this thread. this would open back up my world of hardcore play on openITG. please do this!! i dont have arrow tattoos for nothin xD
edit: check it, r21freak.com is an active forum dedicated to new stepcharts for songs all the time. you should post this over there, they would go WILD!! also
