Well I wear skate shoes most of the time because they are flat and they have the grip and i also wear my nike trainers because they are lightweight.

Are we talking squeaking or banging noise? If it's the former, lift your feet instead of sliding. If it's the latter, step lighter or stop being such a fatass.

Just quit playing so hard on the mat, really it doesn't matter what shoe brand you have as long as you have full control of yourself you wont make a lot of noise. Start playing with the tips of your feet and you should be really really quiet, but if your flat footed like me it's going to hurt like a bitch after just playing for like an hour.

Wow Converse over here are maybe $20.00 USD. Not sure what the currency rate is over there, but that's a lot it seems.

I wore Nike free's when I used to play a lot. Now if I'm out and go to a place that has either DDR/ITG, i'd play in Nike AirForces, or Saucony, depends how my style is that day.

i really don't know about the banging noise but i played the Airwalk look alikes from pay-less and they are okay. I hear skater shoes are best for grip.

I found AirForces were pretty nice for what you're looking for. Don't regret getting a pair myself, i was using the same generic running shoes for like 5 years till i bought AFs.

Basically, if you're looking to shred up anything up to and including nine footers, then skate shoes are the way to go. However, for hard nines and ten footers, you definately gonna need something more mobile, such as a pair of Puma Speed Cats, since they're lightweight and are pretty damn sleek, allowing you to move very quickly through streams and death runs.

I can go on for hours on end if I use the back of my foot, maybe I'm just really odd person but it really does hurt when I play on tiptoes, plus I get higher scores using the back of my foot anyway.

I wonder if your shoes fit correctly. Is it that your feet are sliding down into the front part of the shoe and getting squeezed or something?

I have tried a bunch of different shoes, and I find that my favorite are Kaepa cheerleading shoes, which I ended up with after cheering for 3 months. They have minimal tread and are very light. I would guess that some of the newer Nike running shoes would be light enough too; I tried on a pair of Nike+'s the other day and was amazed at the lack of weight.
