I'm talking about stuff like:
Ska A Go Go (gimmick: final only-looks-hard run)
bag (gimmick: slow)
Chaos (gimmick: stops)
Dance Dance Revolution Oni (gimmick: "best-of" chart)
Horatio Oni (gimmick: ya know, those trills and the wierd instrument)
Across the Nightmare and Least 100sec (beta only, they were intended to be the first stupid-hard charts, like Mendes is for IIDX, but now they're just messy)
Stuff you either love or hate. Any more like these?

Aside from that, basically just bag, SAKURA, and various boss songs
I don't consider step patterns to be "gimmicky", only the fact that the song is easy but they did something stupid like make the song very fast/slow and introduce random stops to make it more difficult

If they hadn't of gone buck-wild with the stops in Chaos and only stopped it when it sounded like it would fit well (see the breakdown with the "tick tick tick" kind of hihat in it), it would have been a really, really fun chart for me.
I still think it's a fun chart, but it could have been pulled off much better.

I'd think SMMM for Trip Machine is a stop gimmick like Chaos. There aren't really too many gimmick songs. There are a few with like nothing but freeze arrows. (in love wit you) bag, of course, is slow as crap and very gimmicky. I'd say Pluto is also kind of like SN2's Chaos. Horratio is a given for those annoying trills. There are some others, but gimmicks don't really come to mind when I play songs.

MAX300 has 573 steps to combo; MAXX Unlimited and Sakura have several BPM changes to throw you off guard; LoM reaches a maximum of 666 BPM; bag's BPM is halved, making the notes difficult to read on 1x; the PARANOiA survivor series has a lot of BPM changes in it, with the Oni chart having a ridiculous deathrun; CHAOS has been covered above; the Fascination series has a BPM range from 100 to 200 to 400, as does Pluto Relinquish (gets as high as 800, I think?). The list goes on and on.

But hey, on another note, I guess they've gotta create stuff like this (to keep the pros from continuing the game). Otherwise, that would give them more reason to quit once they beat every possible song on the highest possible difficulty ever.
Just my two cents on this

Stuff you either love or hate. Any more like these? | You're talking about gimmicks in charts, not gimmmick charts. I was gonna say the only ones I can think of are the _ Special charts from SN2 like Air and Groove Radar on SP and DP. Gimmick charts are pretty rare in bemani games, but if you go to o2jam and some other less prefessional-looking games you can find quite a few of them. Dance Dance Rev Oni would also be a gimmick chart I guess.
