Default Wiring problem with old Red Octane Afterburner

I've got an old Red Octane Afterburner pad that, from what I can tell, has a problem with the wiring. The down arrow no longer registers at all, but the other arrows still work fine.

I did manage to get the back of the pad off, so I could get at the wiring, which is an absolute rat's nest. I noticed that there were three small wires coming out of the main cord that weren't connected to anything at all. Unfortunately, I can't tell if these were actually originally connected to something, or if they were just left free when they originally made the pad.

Have any of you ever tried to fix something like this, or (better yet) run across anything that says how the wiring in there is actually supposed to be connected? It's hardly the end of the world if I can't get the pad working again, but I'd hate to just throw it out if it can actually still be fixed.

The afterburners were horrible. mine didnt work from day 1. I just kept using my old red-octane, which worked fine.

Well, as I said, no real loss if I can't get it working again. I have a Cobalt Flux that's still holding up pretty well that I use most of the time. Worst comes to worst, I just salvage what I can off the Afterburner and pitch the rest so it's not taking up space.

As for recommendations, that's probably best in a separate thread, since most people aren't going to be looking here for that sort of discussion. I don't know about the newer models of the Afterburner, but after taking an old one apart, I sure can't recommend that version.
