Default DDR SuperNOVA Tournament @ Plush Cue, Cheyenne WY - Date TBA

DDR SuperNOVA Wild Winds tournament - In a nutshell version.
Robertbrooks (the arcade operator) and myself have teamed up to put together the first DDR SuperNOVA arcade tournament to hit the area! This will be a double-elimination tournament with up to three skill divisions (based on attendance). The machine played is DDR SuperNOVA. It will be held at Plush Cue, Cheyenne, WY. Entry fee is going to be $20 in-state players and $15 dollars for anyone out of state (this is because we want to give players from long distances the chance to come up and not have to worry about gas and the entry both) and that includes Free Play all day outside of the tournament itself. Prizes are also TBA but that is because we are working on determining what you guys would want to shoot for. For the full version of the rules read below.

Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA
Wild Winds Tournament Official Rules

NEW CHANGES FOR FEBUARY 4TH REFLECTED IN GREEN

The Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA Wild Winds tournament is a chance for difficult and expert level Dance Dance Revolution Players to compete against each other to determine the best player participating in the event. The following rules will guide how the tournament is to be operated.

The entry fee for this tournament is $20 for In-State Players, and $15 for Out of State players (this is to help compensate for the drive to Cheyenne). This fee is non-refundable. This entry fee includes all rounds played in the tournament, prizes, and Free Play for the entire day at DDR SuperNOVA at Plush Cue!

The date for this tournament is undetermined. It will be announced four weeks in advance of the event itself so you all will have plently of notice.

This tournament will be double-elimination (single-elimation if a way more than expected huge turnout comes up) sorted up to three tournament brackets based on the attendance of this event along with qualifier rounds to determine the seeding of the tournament brackets. The formats decided will be determined once attendance of the event is confirmed and decided by the tournament staff.

Qualifers
Players will each play the same song pre-selected randomly by the tournament staff. The song will be at level 7 on Expert or Challenge and can be any song found on the game. Scoring is the perfect attack ratio of each player. The score of each player will determine your seed in the tournament bracket. The better your score the better pairing you will have in the tournament for your division.

(after carefully thinking about it, I decided to kill the second division to make sure there will be enough free time for the tournament and additional play)

The top 1/2 of the qualifier players will be seeded in the Challenge Division. The bottom 1/4 of the qualifier players will be seeded in the Difficult Division. The players inbetween will be in the Expert Division. (These percentages are subject to change based on the capablities of all players.)

Sandbagging is not permitted. If a player is discovered to be not playing at his or her known best could be disqualified.

Match Play Rules
Players will play against another in best 2 out of 3 songs. In the semi-final and final rounds, the game will play best 3 out of 5. Any song can be picked in DDR SuperNOVA ALL MUSIC Mode. Players will be able to choose any song that is available at the time of this tournament (so if the Extra Stage songs have unlocked, players can pick them). Players will flip a coin and call it to determine who gets choice of side and choice of whether they want to play the first or the second song.

When it is the player’s turn to pick the song they are considered to be the active player for that song. In each song the active player will pick the song they want to play. For the last song if needed, will be picked randomly but revealed before hand by the tournament staff. The song picked each time is played at Difficult level for the Difficult division*, Expert Level for the Expert Division**, and the highest level possible for the Challenge division. If the game continues into extra stage, the player (if not both) who caused the extra stage may be awarded a bonus prize if they can complete the extra stage playing Fascination MAXX or Fascination Eternal Love Mix. However their score from the extra will not affect their match score.

*In the Difficult divison, players will not be able to choose "nonstop megamix" songs (these are songs that only have a Challenge stepchart).
**In the Expert divison, players will be able to choose "nonstop megamix" songs.

Players are not allowed to pick the same song twice throughout the tournament. However players are allowed to perform the same song again if another player (or random draw) picks it. Players are allowed to choose their own options for speed and arrow.

(we have removed the additional modifier rules for this paticular tournament)

Bar usage:
Players will be allowed to use the bar on any song at any time.

Scoring:
Scoring is perfect attack ratio. Players will receive 3 points for every Perfect, 1 point for every Great, and 2 points for every completed Freeze Arrow. Goods are awarded no points. Almost deducts 4 points and Boos will deduct 8 points. The machine grading is the final decision for all ratings on steps, with no exceptions! Players complaining about pad misses may be disqualifed (a.k.a. no crybabies!)

Prizes:
Details coming soon. We are working to gather the best prizes we can possibly afford. We will have them announced shortly.

Extra Stage Bonus Prize
The first player to successfully clear, either Fascination MAXX or Fascination Eternal Love Mix on Extra Stage during their match at any time during the tournament will be awarded a unique bonus prize. Call this a quick side event and an incentive to do your best.

Door Prizes
Door Prizes are not fully decided yet but will include:

DDR Burger King Music CDs
Pocky

more to come...

Other Rules
Anyone short of tournament staff can play in this tournament. So besides robert and myself you are all wanted up here to show us what you got.
