I spoke to the GM about it and at some point I'm going out to all the arcades to see how their machines and prices are compared to ours. Off the top of my head I already know everyone is cheaper than us, with the exception of Dave and Busters. I do know our machines are generally in better shape than other arcades, and our staff is infinity better than MGL or C&C; but that really doesn't justify charging double what other places are for the same game.
I want to say IIDX being 10 credits is the product of someone fat fingering the price on a keyboard; they were having problems with the prices on Tekken 6 and Street Fighter 4. Tekken was 1 credit while SF was 6, then SF became 5 and Tekken became 6. I think finally they were both averaged at 4 credits each.
It doesn't make sense for one rhythm game to be double the price of every other rhythm game in the arcade (right now its the most expensive thing to play next to the UFO Catchers). I don't work today, but I will be up there in the afternoon playing and I will double check with management to make sure that's the actual price. Don't send in the angry letters just yet until I confirm it.
If successful I can probably bring it down to 6 credits, in line with the other games; on a critical success I can probably bring it down to 4 credits to be slightly competitive with MGL.
You can get around it by getting the time cards ($15 for 2 hours, $20 for 3 hours) or coming on Play Your Way Thrusdays ($10 with a Gameworks card, $12 without for 3 hours of gameplay from 9-midnight); but that value is directly proportional to the amount of people playing said games. To Stier: Noted, I will tell a tech about the A button on Tengoku, the string is an easy fix and I can probably do it when I get there today.

The fact still remains that Golfland's copy of Gold is only lacking in 16 of the songs Gamework's has (18 if you count the easy access to VANESSA and FacinationMAXX).

Tomorrow I'm going around to the arcades and see what their prices are and what condition there games are in. I'll send my own little letter to home office also complaining about the price as well. The GM and other managers at the store are also going to write into home office also.
While I'm thinking about it, Time Cards are for one person only. Only swipe it when its your turn at the machine. Time Cards are not usable on Street Fighter 4 anymore because people were abusing them on it. I know the price sucks, but I'd hate to see IIDX taken off the Time Cards because people are abusing it also.
On a happier note, today is Thursday, which means its Play Your Way Thursday at Gameworks. From 9 to Midnight play unlimited games (redemption games and Street Fighter 4 excluded, for reasons above) for $10 if you have a Gameworks card, $12 if you do not have one. You may want to come early, as lines tend to form before 9.
Note about Street Fighter 4: Taking it off the Time Cards was a knee jerk response. They're working on a solution as we speak, but I do not know what or when that solution will come around.

Also, the 7 key on the right side of the IIDX machine is really loose, and easy to pry out (or wiggle around during songs you rake your fingers across the buttons). They used to have this issue at MGL, but they fixed it a while ago.

E-Muse is just for looks now, when the dust settles from the remodeling I'm sure we will look into using it.
I swear we were suppose to get more shmups than Raiden IV, I'll ask a manager about that.
I'll tell a tech about the loose key Seru.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | As much as I disagree with the pricing on the machines, I've gotta say that MGL never had anywhere near as many people that were not only interested in watching me play IIDX/Pop'n, but really interested in learning how to play! Both other customers, and even staff have asked me how to play, and then actually gave it a shot!
Not to mention I've actually started getting AAAs on an arcade cabinet :P
