It took them to completely stop working in order to get them fixed). | It's the left cymbal, or Hi-Hat. It works unless you have to hit 16th notes, or really fast notes, you can't do rolls on the HH, and basically makes it damn near impossible to pass punk, ska, Indian, etc. type songs. It's a little difficult without actually showing you. Quote: |
Moving GFDM will probably be on hold until we get DDR X in. That section of games is hella crowded, thanks to Outrun 2 SP and the giant Basketball Game, and we're going to have to move games anyway when it gets in. I don't foresee any room to put it without moving another few games out. It would probably be easier just to move the UFO Catcher in hindsight until we decided to rearrange the area. I'll see about that.
| It would help immensely, those UFO catchers have 1,000,000 lights in them I swear hahahaha | |

There's the Derby game, then a bunch of unrelated crap games that aren't classics that nearly no one plays. It's the only section of the arcade that seems like a big waste (minus the Derby game itself). All of the rest of the zones stick with a theme. My guess is that you guys could either expand the fighter section or increase your pinball selection and have a zone for that (Castle's pinball games still get a lot of play).
Or you guys could go Dave and Buster's style and put pool tables where those games are next to Derby.

The issue is we just can't get rid of the games, they have to go somewhere else in the venue. Any game we move from that zone is going to be replaced by another (probably more racing games, as moving any other type of game would destroy said theme of a zone).
There is word about moving the Fighting Zone downstairs somewhere, not sure exactly where though. And I'm not sure what is going in their place (probably more racing games).

The only other place I personally would be interested in playing them would be in that area by the glass windows facing the food court that isn't the large open area (has a bunch of ticket games, large open area already has plenty).
I wonder if Sega or simply those who make the big decisions at your arcade notice where people mostly are and expand on those areas. There is that collection of games in between the driving zone and the "deathmetal" or rhythm zone that don't appear to belong anywhere, perhaps those could be shifted around (perhaps to the area upstairs with the other misc games) to make room to expand the rhythm zone?

I'm sure where the games are at now provide an excellent spot to concentrate and do your thing (fighting games aren't my cup of tea personally) but I think moving them is a business move vs. a "Best Area for Zone" choice.
I will see about possibly moving the fighting games into the room that faces the mall. Some issues I can see with it would be pushing redemption further up along the west wall, which means moving at least one or two of the big games off of that wall (Sega Rally 3, UFO Stomper, Let Go Jungle ... hell every game on that wall is huge and obnoxious to move). Which means finding a big enough spot to put it, which requires moving more games from their spot upstairs to replace the fighting games.
In short, a lot has to be taken into consideration when we're moving multiple games at once. If we just wanted to move Street Fighter or MvC2 by itself, it would be less of an issue. I will see if any plans for moving the Fighting Games has even been established yet, if you guys have any suggestions (you seem to know more about a good environment for the games than me) I will be more than happy to pitch them.

If the upstairs is considered a lost cause for a good revenue stream, put your lowest grossing games upstairs. Since like you said, half the games are driving games, you can toss some of them upstairs and still have plenty for a themed zone.

The DDR Extreme cab at GW seems to have a better screen, but the buttons are still as shot as ever.

I'm going to go in there and play NEMESIS, O JIYA, Fairy Tales, The Least 100 Sec., 正論 and whatever else I need to to get them to realize the damn HH is broken.
