A bunch of us are planning an "oldschool DDR meet" in Melbourne next February. By "oldschool DDR", I basically mean we're all folks (so far) from the old days of DDR. It's not a comp or anything, it's just a meetup, probably with a console party. If we do have a comp, it'll be done entirely for hilarity (in other words, we'll probably do it at Galactic Circus because their machines are hilariously broken). Basically that's the kind of people who will be there, so if that doesn't sound interesting then it's too bad, I guess. Of course, DDRers naturally move on to other Bemani games, hence Melbourne - we'll have access to Pop'n, IIDX, Technika, DMX, PPP, GFDM-a-plenty, Taiko no Tatsujin, and so on if I forgot anything.
This has already been posted on other forums so a lot of you will know about it already.
The dates are Friday 5th February 2010, through to Tuesday 9th February 2010 with the console party on the Sunday (because cricket is on). Some of us will be there for longer.
At the moment accomodation hasn't been decided at all. All I can say is the bulk of us will be staying somewhere near the city. But we don't know where yet! I think we're aiming at around $50 per night per person though at this point.
Anyway, if anyone is interested/has questions/comments, discuss. I'm hungry right now so I can't think! | |

as pascal said, theres no state on age of your bemani " career " so to speak. just a lot of us old foke wanted to meetup and hell if we meet the new crowd of the country then great. | |

Yeah Xythar, of course - 2009's old enough really, I guess the point is it's not an "I'm the best" type meetup and it's most definitely not DDR only. Anyone is welcome but people who are looking for an ITG machine to show they can pass some stupid edit are going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
You'd fit right in with us anyway so it's a moot point - last time when I had lunch with you and An up at Box Hill McDonalds was the last time I enjoyed McDonalds because people it was really like having an online conversation IRL. That's one of the reasons behind organising the meetup, I think.
Besides, we'll be up at Box Hill at some point anyway so regardless you'd bump into us!

Well, except the accommodation, I imagine you'd need to find a hotel for that. But I do have consoles, controllers and a TV. Several, in fact (HDTV for ps3/360, CRT for iidx/pop'n, iidx/pop'n/rock band controllers, etc) | |

yeah we're looking into finding a hotel/motel/apartment or maybe a conference room or a hall we can rent out for gaming/sleeps/eatery on the cheap (costs shared between people im assuming)

Transport might be the difficult part, especially for the HDTV. I do live very close to a train station though so it's easy to access. | |
